      Default PayPal

This morning I found out three persons have been transferring a total amount of almost $ 2,000 from my paypal account. Paypal sent me an e-mail that these transactions were probably unauthorized, I checked my bank account and my credit card account and untill now nothing happened. I'm very upset and scared because it's a huge amount of money. I filed complaints as soon as I found out............

      Anael,
You are right, this is very scary! At least Paypal notified you that they believed the transactions were unauthorized and you filed complaints. Thank you also for making us aware of it. I hope it all works out for you, kt3234 Karen

That is awful Anael and scary. I hope that what you have done is enough to keep your money safe. Its terrible that some people just always find ways in which to get money from everyone else.
      Fingers crossed for you

Thanks minnie, that's a relieve to know. I do hope PayPal doesn't authorize the transfers, that would save me a lot of trouble. I'm not sure I keep my PayPal account, this is too scary!

its to handy to give up ,I only have a small amount in my acount that feeds paypal ,wait and see how they help you I know its hard and scary .last year someone put $14,000 on our credit card it took a month to sort that out but the bank staff were great , My hubbie says just treat the staff helping you nice ,as they didn't take your money and are trying to help you
we live in a new world and need to learn to look after our money , old days you got hit on the head when you got robed now you don't even know when they take your money .

Are you sure that the original message came from PayPal? It could be a scam thingie. Did you log onto PayPal and determine that it was from them? Hope you didn't hit the reply button and send any information about your card or account. Think it's wonderful if it was from PayPal and they notified you before anything happened.
I thought that you would have to put the money in your PapPal account (from your bank account) for anyone to draw money from PayPal.
And did you notify your credit card company?
This is really scary. I don't keep that kind of money in the account that I use for PayPal just because of something like this.

Anael, are you saying that they took $2000 out? There are a lot of fraud emails with paypal that send you emails and get you to log into your account and they get your password. I would suggest changing it asap. If they actually have transfered money out you should be able to get it back .I have gotten my money back when I haven't recieved my merch from ebay. Just be careful about emails "paypal" sends you. I never log in from a link that is in an email. I always go directly to the paypal site!

See, I'm not the only one who thought scam. And I agree with not clicking on the link in any letter to go directly to your account. Never do that. And isn't it horrible that we live in that kind of society?

I agree! There is a link you can report a phishing scam in your paypal account if it is a scam you can notify paypal so they can try to catch the culprits

It wasn't scam. The transfers are visible on my account, only they didn't take out the money yet. I used another browser to log in on my PayPal account to make sure it wasn't scam.

How disturbing, Anael. About a month ago, our credit card company called to verify a purchase. Someone had fraudulently gotten our card number and was trying to make overseas electronic purchases. Not a comfortable experience.

Also, a couple of years ago, we went to the bank to open an account for my son. The personal banker told me that my SS# had been flagged as being on another account. Turns out an illegal immigrant had used my SS# as a Worker ID number. Nothing bad came of it, but I sure was mad that my bank didn't flag my number when she tried to use it. I had been banking with that bank for 7 years! I think they knew it was my number first!

      Those are bad experiences also
I once had a problem with a company where I purchased an item. That company charged my credit card a year later (!) for the same purchase. I filed a complaint and got my money back. I never had problems with my PayPal account before but I have to admit, because of this I just might close my PayPal account.

And no, I never click a link in an e-mail because I know PayPal doens't ask for account details that way. First time this morning I logged into my PayPal account I had to give them information on my account. I closed the browser, started a new one and logged in again. Same information was being asked, it was PayPal for sure but I was quite scared to give that information! I changed my password this morning and changed it again this afternoon........I don't know what else I can do besides waiting for PayPal to sort this out.

I am with you. If nothing or any money changed hands sound like some was phishing for info to be able to get money or access to credit cards. Scammers are getting better at their game or trying to any way.
