I think it would be wonderful it our family and friends joined in too because this is a fantastic way to have quilts made. It still takes time and work but you have a variety that could never happen with just one person creating. I have had a ton of comments and compliments on my quilt already. I used my own blocks to frame all of the beautiful work done by the other quilters.

Oh, I had my report cards turned in the first of May My students are college nursing students in clinical; I don't go back until October when the 'newbees' are ready to start clinicals again. My own children finished school 3 weeks ago; private Christain school that starts 3 weeks ahead of public school thus ends earlier. Summer freedom for us teachers

Too excited??? I don't really think that is possible. And if it is-- that would be me. I have decided to use quilt store quality fabrics for my designs but that means I have to wait till next Thursday to go. Its almost killing me to wait that long. I am so tempted to buy on-line but I'm afraid I wouldn't stop.

I was nervous about buying the fabric on-line because the last time the fabric was beautiful but the person was a heavy smoker and I have asthma! This turned out better than great. This actually saved me money and time because I could never have picked such a great assortment on my own and would have ended up with way too much. There was a total of 14 yards which is enough for the quilt top and strips. I have no self-control in a fabric store!!

My sewing room is scary because I have 24 large clothes baskets on shelves full of fabric (check my album) and still HAVE to buy more. This is a serious addiction to chocolate or something! I'm all good with it but I think DH about has kittens at times.

      Joyce-

You know anytime you need to talk about the "yuck" in your life - just go ahead. who better to talk to then your friends here. We all have some sort of "yuck" in our life or have gone thru some. And you know here - we will all give you a big hug and tell you it'll be ok. God has his purpose and we not understand it - but we have to belive in it.

So here is a big hug for you this morning.

      Speaking of fabrics;
I have a serious addiction to them, always have but now I have this new one for quilting fabrics and am in the process of getting a great stash built up. I have bought at Ebay and have had no problems so far but the best place I have found thus far is te Fat quarter shop.

I just got my 4th delivery of Christmas fabrics yesterday from the fat Quarter, I probably have spent way too much, but I love it. I have spent around $400 so far hehe.

I also joined a Chistmas club at the Fat quarter shop where I get a shipment of 12 fat quarters eeach month from May til December, and I was lucky enough when I joined to still get the May fabrics too. I am still waiting on the May and June fabrics shipments. I also want to join anoter monthly club they have that starts in August.

Boy Elizabeth created a serios addict in me hehe.
      Happy quilting all

So... how many of us already? And when it is going to decided if we make one or two blocks for each participant?

I already cut 24 blocks and started making some samples yesterday. <grin> I'm very excited with this my second swap.

Heehaww, Thats exactly what I done jumped in with both feet, I've never done a quilt swap and have no had much experience with quilting But I'm going to give it my best, Once I get them sent in and you see how generic I am you may want to give me some pointers, lol

I love trying new things though so I al already having a blast just thinking about it and deciding what I need to do next, I might have alot of questions along the way so don't boot me out just yet.

No concerns for how your blocks will stack up against the others - we're all in this to learn. My blocks aren't the best ones in the bunch, but I learned a lot and had a great time doing it. If other people in the swap don't like my blocks or don't want to use them in a quilt, that's up to them - I did my part by showing up and doing the best I could do and what happens to them now is none of my business.

Even the newbiest newb should never worry about how her blocks compare - I know the temptation is strong, but don't do it. People expect a wide variety of techniques, colors, patterns, skill levels in a swap and we're prepared to deal with it.

Bottom line: if this sounds like fun to you and you want to sign up then you should, by all means! Then jump in with both feet and do the best you can do.

And if that doesn't work, well then.... I double-dog dare ya.

Welcome aboard to a great fun swap, here’s the swap details: The only thing really required like last swap is 12.5" blocks in a winter theme which means:
Christmas,- (religious or secular) and including all of the other holidays that occur at this time of year, things like Christmas, Chanukah, winter scenes, or just blocks with Christmas materials, embroidered or not, or appliquéd; basically it’s what you believe in for this season or this time of year.

The sign up list won't close until Beginning of October so we don't know how many blocks were making yet, but you’re the 15th to sign up so far I think. They are due to be sent in to Deb on October 31, so we have plenty of time to do plenty of them. The name blocks are up to you if you want to make them, they are not required. Name blocks re 2.5" by 4.5" little blocks we used in our last swap with our name and state on them in case who ever got the blocks wanted to use them in their quilts as I will do and Deb already did but they are not required.
      Hope this explains it all.

If you have any questions just ask. This is a great group of ladies who are always willing to help. Don't worry about being new either, most of us were all new in the last swap which just ended a month or so ago and as you can see we didn't do a bad job of making our quilt blocks.

      Happy quilting
      Bre

Here’s the pictures of the quilt top Deb made with blocks we all made from our last swap with the name blocks on them to give you an idea.

Thank you Artist Bree, I saw it on one of the pages I've read every page so I can make sure I get the full instructions on what I need to do.

I do have one question though...say 20 people sign up for this, do I have to make 40 squares and then them all to the host or do I send 2 squares to each person?

Welcome aboard EmBargains!! Bre is right, no idea how many blocks each at this point in time. Still have months to go on this before we close.

Right now I am saying that I personally made a king size quilt with my blocks and used 42 blocks I have to make an extra 8 to complete things. I am going to start quilting it together today!!!!

Oh NO!! You let your hostess, ME , do all the sorting and re-shipping work. I agree with Elizabeth in that I will mail out the blocks and have you reinburse me for the postage; she suggested bubb-lopes to protect our treasures. But, we will have all of those instructions later.

Right now just enjoy creating and stacking because Oct 31 is a long way off

Bre, God knows that I would be totally lost without you and Elizabeth . I just remembered what page I put the last update on; took 10 minutes to find it. I can't get along without you keeping me totally straight. In fact I am thinking hard of a way to transport you here for sorting day since my Harry Porter sorting hat seems to have gone missing!

You silly girl you are too funny. All I did was reapeat what we had said when we set up for the rules this time and that isn't nothing hehe LOL. I just didn't want you to think I was trying to take your job hehe, I am so hooked that I may even try hosting next time. Boy Elizabeth created some quilting monsters in this group, hey, and we have to keep it going.

I have a few links for you if you want them. The first one is my favorite site for Christmas fabrics, and they have the prettiest fabrics I have ever saw for Christmas. There even cheaper than Joann's is for the measley few Christmas fabrics they have at this time of year.

The second site I found recently and sure wished I would of had it when we did the first quilt block swap. It has video's teaching anything you can think of for quilting from cutting strips to binding, applique and a lot more like how to machine quilt and finishing a quilt.

If you need help as a lot of us did in the last swap this may interest you. If you look down the right side theres a list of other video's that you can view, and if you click on one of the video's from the list it will give you a whole different list of video's to view. Here's the link for continuas binding.
