Bre I have totally lost my ever lovin' mind! I decided to do a bunch of LARGE cross stitch blocks with log cabin quilting!! Do you know that a 5 x 7 can take 3-4 hours!!! They are really pretty but do not think I will do more than a few at this rate

I am loving the size of the group! With this many people at 2 blocks a person our quilt will basically be done! Maybe even a block or 3 for throw pillows

      Deb
I do cross stitch and it vey relaxng but also very time consuming too. I be the one you did will be so very pretty and appreciated by who ev recieves hem.

I did a few different versions of the log cabin design too, but not in cross stitch. They worked very well with some of the designs in my fabrics.

I agree the size of our group this time is really growing nicely, and we'll have enough blocks for quilt without making any this time.

Have you heard from Elizabeth lately, I havent sw her on in a long time.

      Happy quilting

No, wondered about that earlier but than July was a weird month for us.

We lost chunks of our roof in a tornado in June, got it replaced and done yesturday! DH insisted on pine straw colored shingles instead of black! It looks fantastic! Our home is red/orange brick with cream colored trim and the new roof makes all the difference. Shall post pictures in a few days.

3- CHRISTMAS theme; any type ALL BLOCKS are to be 12" square

4- We need YOU; come and have fun

Anyone interested needs to just sign up. It is my honor and my pleasure to be your hostess. The more the better, the bigger the quilt to snuggle under during those holidays or give as a precious gift full of lots of love.

I would like to join this swap. I joined the last one but then broke my leg, both bones and my ankle. I couldn't sit and sew, so I had to get out of the swap. I don't expect to break anything this time. Below someone suggested doing only 1 block. Please clearify if we are to make 2 or 1 for each. Also how many people are in this swap so I can know how many blocks to make. I'd like to start asap. Thanks

Hi 123mccoach! Glad that you are doing better. Right now there are 21 of us and we are still aiming towards 2 blocks each at this point in time. I realize that is 42 blocks but we still have until October 31. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions or offer any suggestions; we are totally open. Happy sewing.

Yea your square and probably loosing it but then so am I because I also count 22, or maybe Deb is, hehe. LOL

      123mcoach
Hi and welcome to our swap. Were all just sewing blocks now until we know the final count. Heres a few things you might like to know.
      Here’s the swap details:
The only thing really required is 12.5" blocks in a winter theme which means:

Christmas,- (religious or secular) including all of the other holidays that occur at this time of year, things like Christmas, Chanukah, winter scenes, or just blocks with Christmas materials, embroidered or not, or appliquéd; basically it’s what you believe in for this season or this time of year, with your personal touch. That’s what makes a swap like this so neat we get so many unique ideas and personalities the quilts are so pretty.

The sign up list won't close until Beginning of October sometime, so we don't know how many blocks were making yet, but you would be the 22nd person to sign up so far. The blocks are due to be sent in to Deborah our Swapmeister on October 31, so we have plenty of time to do a lot of blocks.

If the number of people stays low like it is now we will probably make 2 blocks for each person in the swap, on the other hand since sign up doesn’t close until sometime in October we may have a lot more people to sign up yet. If we get do get a lot more people to sign up we would make only one block per person. Deb will let us know which way were doing it as time gets closer.

The name blocks are up to you if you want to make them or not, but they are not required. Name blocks are 2.5" by 4.5" little blocks with our name and state on them in case who ever get the blocks wants to use them in their quilts.

      Happy quilting

Hello friends and fellow swappers... please clarify something. When the swap started, the blocks were going to be 12 1/2" and now, I see that some postings are handling a 12" block.
      I have 20 something done all at 12 1/2".
I would rather go with 12 1/2, but please let us know which is it going to be.
      Thanks and happy quilting.

Hi everybody! I feel like I have been gone for so long! My DIL passed away July 19 and I have found that it doesn't matter how long you are prepared for a loss it is still a loss and it is hard to take!! I couldn't make myself do anything and I would let the house go. I still go through sad spells but I am slowly getting back to being me again.
We are going to take the kids to Disneyland this weekend ...........leaving tomorrow and coming back sunday. It will really help to just get away from everything and then get prepared for school to start.
I actually feel like sewing again. I haven't been able to for about 3 mo. because I stayed byJulies side reading to her upstairs and my sewing room is dowstairs. I did get a crosstitch done while I was by her side (by hand)
Boy do I need to get things in order again downstairs!
I am looking forward to getting my blocks done! Joyce

Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. Take the good days when they come and enjoy them but don't be too discouraged when a harder day comes along. The grief process takes a long time. Remember you have friends here who care.

You are never ready for death when it comes. I think that is because we all have a spark of hope inside. But it does, and it takes time to grieve. do what you can when you feel like it. But then, don't let yourself wallow in it either. And I think with the kids there - that won't happen. Kids seem to have a way of going on with life that is amazing. They seem to handle it beter then adults do at times. Not that they don't feel grief as deep - perhaps even deeper then we do.

I think Disney is a perfect place to go. I'm sure ya'll will have a wonderful time, and with school starting soon, it will help. Life is just pushing ya'll forward.

Joyce I am glad you are feeling more the thing. I can't imagine how hard this all has been for you. I am glad that are ready to sew again.

You are gonna love Disneyland, I went 3 weeks ago. It was awsome! Went on all the rides and survived. I don't do rides but really did have fun.

Did everyone see Embargains post in the bad news section? You can find it under sorry for my absence. (wish I knew how to leave a link instead of describing where to go) More heartbreaking news. She mentions that she will have to drop out of the exchange--thats why I'm mentioning it here.

I just read it a few minutes ago. I feel for her. She doesn't need to be worried about the swap with everything else on her plate.
