Klarina - what a wonderful block. That is real cool!
Thanks tndenim. I like this block to make a quilt with 12 blocks, one for every month of the year. I can imagine the type of print and embelishment for every month... it would be really cool, for one of my DGDs, perhaps... After I'm done with the blocks for this swap, I'll start plotting new quilts... this is too much fun to stop... <grin>
As soon as I get my "other projects" or should I say my sister's projects done - I can get to my blocks. I made her a chef's hat - it didn't suit her - she wanted one with a larger band and taller. Now I got to do that one for her - it's not like she can't sew - she just won't. Then she wanted an apron - for work of course - they got some new guy coming in that they are having some grilling competition with. Sis's boss makes BBQ ribs on the grill and sells at their grocery store a few times a month - so this is for some new guy who's suppose to help cook. So I sew sew sew - but not for me me me!
Why are we so quiet? How is everybody doing? Miss you guys.
Well Kalrina - we must be working on our blocks - lol. Nature chick came by my house yesterday and we talked about our blocks. I showed her my material and the designs I want to use. She liked them. Now I just need to spend the time and get them going. To much to do and so little time to do them - lol.
Well, I'm making progess. I have 11 done now, but I sew slow so I have to keep working at them. But, today was too beautiful to sew, so I cut some pieces, but did not put any together.
I know what you mean I have tons of projects going on... but I only work on them when the mood strikes... and right now it is striking only on the Christmas blocks... LOL... I have left everything else aside without bothering to revisit any of them... I guess when my Christmas blocks are done, I'll just have to pick one project at random and try to finish it.

I got the beautiful beautiful block you sent to me as a thank you for the magnetic thing I sent you. I see it is seems to be working great for you because your seams are just perfect; but it sure wasn't a fair swap on my part since the magnetic thing was quite inexpensive in comparison to this wonderful block you made for me. It is so very pretty and was probably time consuming on your part, but I am so happy you made it for me thank you so very much.
Heres a picture of the wonderful block she sent me. Incase you can't see it in the pictures she put lace arround the bottom of the cup in white, which really makes it even more pretty.
You do such beautiful work Klarina that I cant wait to see your finished blocks in November when we are all done with them and post them for all to see.
Happy quilting all

Oh that is a beautiful block. Please tell us about the magnetic thingie. I also have not gotton anything from this thread, but I have been collecting fabrics and ideas for my blocks. I am starting actual making after "The Dress" is done! Got one of those new strip cutters from fiskers (Donna Dewberry is featured on it). Not the little ones but it is like a paper cuter. Works beautifully! It should make the job easier with my broken wing.

If my daughter is a princess, that must mean I am Queen.
Klarina- that block you ent Bre is gorgeous. I just know the blocks you will send will be great too! September seems so far away - lol. Anticipation is building!

The magnetic thing I was refering to is to measure seam allowances. I had one that I wasnt using so I sent it on to another quilter from our swap that needed one and in turn she sent me a beautiful block.

This is the first time I got an email notification in a long time but at least I know it is still sending them to me.

I have been doing some much tougher pieced blocks this time too and there turning out pretty good too, but there taking me longer per block so I am glad to have the extra time this swap.

There are 18 of us right now but you can still sign up. The blocks aren't due to be sent to our hostess (Deb) until Oct. 31.
Here’s the swap details:
The only thing really required is 12.5" blocks in a winter theme which means:
Christmas,- (religious or secular) including all of the other holidays that occur at this time of year, things like Christmas, Chanukah, winter scenes, or just blocks with Christmas materials, embroidered or not, or appliquéd; basically it’s what you believe in for this season or this time of year, with your personal touch. That’s what makes a swap like this so neat we get so many unique ideas and personalities which makes the quilts so pretty.
So to answer your question the blocks are all very different. The blocks I have made so far all all different. I am trying all different patterns.
The sign up list won't close until Beginning of Octoberso we don't know how many blocks were making yet, but you would be the 19th person to sign up if you want to join us. The name blocks are up to you if you want to make them or not, they are not required. Name blocks re 2.5" by 4.5" little blocks with our name and state on them in case who ever get the blocks wants to use them in their quilts.
Hope that helps

So, did anyone miss me? My brother-in-law passed on 7/7/09 which kept me busy helping my sis for a couple of days. We had vacation plans in place for California prior to all of this and left Saturday morning. Missed our connection flight and stayed in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday night; got home almost 24 hours late. Sis had all of her vacation (daughter got married on July 4th) pictures processed while I was gone and gave them to me late Thursday night for me to scrapbook most of Friday. Got those done for her to take to back to Washington for her daughter (a combo vacation/wedding album). turns out she will not go to Washington for several more weeks but at least that is done and ready for her. She was pretty torn up seeing pictures of her DH at a wedding and then he passed suddenly a few days later on the flight home. I can not imagine.
Shall post vacation pictures soon.
I sure did miss you guys. I did see a HUGE fabric store in San Diego (right near a Joann's); went in but did NOT buy. Had not room in the luggage! I was already in trouble with 3 bags (carry on). Continental charges $15 for a check bag! I was not paying any more than I already had! We flew back on Delta and they charge for food! Free 1/2 oz bag of peanuts and a 4 oz cup of soda; have to pay for everything else. I am shocked at how things are going to fly. Oh well, vacation was wonderful, even the bright red face I now have![]()
