Heavens no! This is a perfect excuse to shop for more fabrics What is really sad is that I started going thru my stash and found a ton of holiday fabric that I didn't even know that I had! Oh well! It is my duty to help support the ecomony right

Touche" when ever we can find a reason to shop for more fabric we must take it since there's so few reasons to begin with.

Have a happy 4th everyone, I know we will it's also my birthday so we get to celebrate double, yeeehaw.
      Happy quilting all

      Hiya.
I have never participated in a quilt swap before, and I have only done some english patchwork, but I would like to be part of this exchange.
I do live in Denmark, so if the hostess decides it is too complicated then that is quite okay.

paper piecing. you take a piece of paper the size you want the patch to be, cut a bit of fabric that size + seamallowances then put the paper on the fabric on the wrong side, turn over the seamallowance and tack the fabric to the paper. when you sew together the patches, you put them right side against each other and sew the edges with overcast stitches, being careful not to sew in the paper. when you have surrounded a patch with other patches you can remove the tacking stitches and remove the paper

Thanks Tania, this sounds really interesting. Those would be nice in a holiday block for the swap Just remember that all blocks must be 12.5 x 12.5.

      Again, welcome to the group.

Nope, not a single duplication of fabrics. (I think our stashes are too vast to ever have that happen! LOL!)

Tania, glad to have you on board. The more the merrier!

Congradulations Munchkin maker. The more the merrier.

Wait a minute, did I just repeat myself? My brain cells wish they could say they were many and merry. Oh well.

Tania, Bre jotted a few notes to get you up to speed; hope that this all helps
      Here’s the swap details:
The only thing really required is 12.5" blocks in a winter theme which means:

Christmas,- (religious or secular) including all of the other holidays that occur at this time of year, things like Christmas, Chanukah, winter scenes, or just blocks with Christmas materials, embroidered or not, or appliquéd; basically it’s what you believe in for this season or this time of year, with your personal touch. That’s what makes a swap like this so neat we get so many unique ideas and personalities the quilts are so pretty.

The sign up list won't close until Beginning of October so we don't know how many blocks were making yet, but you would be the 18th person to sign up so far. The blocks are due to be sent in to Deb our Swapmeister on October 31, so we have plenty of time to do a lot of blocks. The name blocks are up to you if you want to make them or not, they are not required. Name blocks re 2.5" by 4.5" little blocks with our name and state on them in case who ever get the blocks wants to use them in their quilts as I will do and Deb already did but they are not required.

Deb, have you decided yet if we are going to make one block per participant... or two of them? If you ask me, I would rather go with 2 of them... (I already have more than 18 blocks, anyways... LOL)

Hi ladybug, at this point in time we are still aiming for 2 blocks each; TOTAL 36. If this changes I will let you know.

Just to be sure. The blocks needs to be 12½ inches, is that a finished size of the block of 12 inches + seamallowance?
