I need to put a fill in a doughnut-like shape. Fill in the doughnut and not the hole. Is this possible? Thanks, Connie

When you download it, download the tutorials also. They help get you started.

    http://www.sophiesew.com
It seems to be a pretty good program to learn on without spending money.

what it do is make a region that is like a split ring. if you do not stitch but use the outline as region boundry you can make donuts see the attached zip file (this is not the finished file as that zipped to large to attach)

That will work. I found instructions for something called a complex hole. I got it to work for one region, but my design has multiple holes. I can't seem to get it to work for multiples. It is kinda like a stencil.

I have been playing with this and for the complex holes the thing to remember is to do the regions from the bottom layer up. I actually made one that has fill, hole, fill. Think bull's eye. It worked great. Still trying to get the hang of the fill on funky shaped reg.ion shaped like a swan's head. The program wants to make it a rectangle. Anyone else having success? C

I like this program very much. But one has always to keep in mind that it is a beta-version!!! Many functions are still missing, sometimes the program will even crash. That is why I save the design I'm working on after every single work step.
As to the layers and complex holes ... I did not try this function myself yet, but I remember that there is a very good tutorial video for this topic on the SopieSew website! I think they explain about multiple complex shapes / holes there.

Thanks. I think I picked a tough piece of art for the first design, even though it is just black and white. A friend asked me to digitize a patch for him. He is a performer, so I want it to look great. He will be on an international tour with TV appearances.
