Anyone missing today, anyone that has not been on for a while?
I use 2 layers of insulation. The insulation that is nearest the hot pans has a silver, heat resistant side. The other is a batting without the silver side. I end up with 8 layers on each oven mitt:
Layers 1 & 8 are the outside fabric
Layers 2 & 7 are the batting without the silver side
Layers 3 & 6 are the batting with the silver side facing out
Layers 4 & 5 are the lining fabric
I hope this makes sense to you.
Here's a thread that I posted a long time ago and maybe it will be clearer here:

sharong if you have any problems at all, just let me know. The layer of insulbrite and an extra layer of batting, not the cotton quilt batting but the polyester, should do just fine. I'll be happy to help in any way that I can. Good luck and post a picture when you're done!

Love the info on the heat proof oven mitts. Checking in here. Did a lot of laundry today. Had it hanging outside. I fell asleep on the couch and I hear this voice yelling "Wake up Brenda, It's going to storm. You have laundry on the line" I woke very confused. But ran out and got my laundry in the nick of time.
Lucky I have a neighbor who watches out for me. She also knows my habits well (napping). LOL
Have a great night all.

Good morning all, Have a wonderful day.
Howdy everyone. Hope y'all have a fun day. I'll be around, just off and on.
Debbsie= I loved the mits you made. Those are real pretty and I love the fabrics. But where do you get the heat resistant batting with the liver lining? I've not seen it in my fabric shops around here.
Just popped in to say hi... I wont be on anymore today I have to go to the funeral home and then go help with food after the service. Take care all....see you tomorrow![]()

Happy Sunday everyone. It's a lovely sunny day here on the south west coast of Canada. It's 11:43 a.m. here. I think we're in the very last time zone in the world so I imagine you on the east coast are around 3 hours ahead making it around 3pm where you are. I will spend a good part of today working on my latest pair of oven mitts. If anyone needs a pair, just give me a shout. Enjoy this lovely day, all you sewing buddies.
