my newest obsession - covering logo's on totebags

I too am waiting for photos (and instructions)...please, please, please.
12:30am and I'm embroidering on one of the totes I purchased tonight. Is that insane or what? Hubby won't be home for probably another hour yet and on darling son hasn't come home from work (his shift ended at 10pm) - so here I am watching this stitch out thinking hmmmm nope this design isn't going to cover the lettering hahaha
2:05am - I'm done and I'm not happy. It didn't cover as much of the wording as I would have liked. But I took my sleeping pill an hour ago - hubby came home about 1/2 hr. ago .. guess son is ... well we won't go there ... so I'm going to get some rest.
I have some roses to plant tomorrow morning (I mean this morning !!!!) DIg up my frustrations - as it were.
It's Friday. He's probably just out with the boys??? Hope he comes home safely.
Are we going to have pictures?
Mrs Buckeye, Sher,
This is a fantastic idea...these tote bags cost less than $ 1
Some are plastic , some are a strange fabric feeling paper.
What type are those totes. ?
Perhaps the way to cover the HUGE WORDS are:
take a nice piece of FLEECE / fabric that embroiders
well with zero puckers... Embroider it .. and cut
the shape to cover the words.... then stitch it on.
Fleece doesn't fray , but fabric would need extra work
I wonder buy just embroidering over top of the words if
the words " show through " , that's why I wonder if the
" patch " method might be the answer.

Ginny we Miss you !!!!!!!!!!
I agree photos needed..plus I just realized:
THESE would make wonderful :
- halloween decorated bags
- gifts for people !!!!![]()
- everyone has gone GREEN these days, so
... enviro friendly topics on them would be good.
- good items to practice on .. you could embroider all over the bag in
various spots ,,, to test out designs, and still use the bag for shopping
HEH .. where is SICK DESIGNS .. green earth designs ?
WE NEED SOME of THEM

Look forward seeing Pictures when you are done, hope son arrives safely home .
Thanks Ria
Here are a couple that I did. I appliqued the patch over the logo. These bags were from Joanns and are bigger than the bags that are sold locally. The best part is they only cost $1.
ccbear66.
I love what you have done....
Did you do a manual applique stitch around the patch ?
Or did you set the applique with the embroidery letter
to go around the patch.

Thank you. I downloaded the appllique patch from sewforum stitched it on the bag with the embroidery machine then just stitched out the applique letter on top of it all.
this would work great, especially if you have a hoop big enough to fit the size needed for the patch applique!!!!! Great Idea
Thank you for the pictures. Your bags turned out great, ccbear!
I've been thinking about doing some lightweight bags like this to carry in the car so I would have one when needed but have been concerned about how the bags would hold up against the applique stitch. Did you use a tear-away stabilizer?
That is such a fantastic idea, I've wanted to start carrying my groceries in these but I don't like the look of them, but this will definitely work, yay
I have been thinking of doing this for the ladies in my family. Hope mine look as nice as yours!
Thanks all. If you have a Joann's near you pick up some of their bags. They are bigger than others and the logo is not very large. I just had to use a 5x7 applique to cover it.
