Default Oh, this is soooo AWEFUL!

Last night I fell asleep thinking about my next project, as I do every night. I was dreaming about downloading some designs when my 2 year old started to cry and whine about 3 am. His eczema was irritating him and he was itching and scratching. I was still in my sleepy daze so my first instinct was to console him without having to get up. I sat up a bit and said,"It's OK Champ, you'll find the hourly hunt next time, don't cry!" So as I lay there I thought to myself, we live together he can use the design that I found. But he kept crying he come over to me saying,"Mommy my eyebow (elbow) is eeching, scratch it". Then I knew...he was not hunting for a design. That is aweful isn't it! I must confess that I am addicted to embroidery and designs and also hunts!

Oh tangie, I know how you feel, dreaming of designs is what I do best now LOL. Same goes for the eczema I developed it later on during my teens and it is such a curse. My oldest nephew is 3 also and has it. I know you probably have had loads of people saying this works that work, I find for myself and John Silcoks Base works really well it soothes the itching an sorta heels the soreness quickly...its like vaseline but so much better.
Hope you get good rest !!

Hey thanks for the tips, we will try anything. We've been doing mineral oil and it helps but his eczema is triggered by food allergies and the kids gave him all kinds of candy on Easter and we've been dealing with that for a few days. But I'll see if I can get some of that.

Wow, Tangie. You got bit by the SiCK bug fast. A cure has yet to be discovered. LOL.

Have you tried Hydrocortisone? It comes in a cream or ointment. I even carry it with me when travelling...helps with insect bites, too (but not SiCK bugs).

He's has a reaction to benedryl and other antihistamines. He even had a reaction to vaseline and aveeno, weird. But they give him prednosome evry now and then, when it's really bad. That clears it right up but it's not a permanent solution.

I'm so sorry that he has to deal with that. I know people who have it and it's a constant battle. How often we take for granted not itching. I pray God heals his body. God Bless You!

So sad for you son's condition. Being uncomfortable in any way for long periods is No Fun! (and being the caregiver isn't much better). But how funny that you still hunt in your dreams. You truly are SiCK like the rest of us.

Ok tangie just got read your post again and saw he gets a reaction from vaseline..Silcocks base is quite similar..I have the tub here. it is emoillient moisturiser, and contains emulsifying wax, White soft paraffin, Parabens, Purified Water..
Just in case you do go searching for it and you find then that he is allergic to any..

Thanks for all your well wishes. I just hope he grows out of it like my 10 year old did. Yeah I know I'm a SICKO, I only miss the hunts between 1am and 7am. I never miss the in betweens.

I did have to Laugh out loud on this. I am sorry your little one is uncomfortable. My daughter had this skin problem when she was a child. Since she is an adult she has not had any problems with her skin.

My nephew also suffers from this skin condition. It is horrible to see him scratch so and no relief to offer him. I do hope with age your son starts to improve as seems to be the case with my nephew. As for your "sick" addiction, I do not believe there is any known cure! Good luck to you, kt3234 Karen

I have a nasty skin disease; Shromburg's, olive oil based lotions help me. I can not have any type of pain med/cold stuff with tylenol, asprin, advil, no alcohol or tobacco products because they really mess me up. Had to take tylenol for an evil headache Sunday and am suffering something awful. My skin itches, turns rusty colored and literally peels off of my feet and hands and bleeds! I go nuts for a couple weeks just off one dose of tylenol.

Mom used a tanning bed for her eczema, it worked wonders and cleared her skin up. Don't know if it works for my skin condition; afraid to try because I am so pale and I'm afraid that the raw/red skin will burn.

Did our ancestors suffer from these problems or are they modern day ailments?

Tangie, I know it has been quite awhile since your post But if he is not allergic to oatmeal, give him a bath with whatever type of soap or skin cleaner you normally use with a handful of rolled oats rubbed into the soap and then onto the skin.Right from the box they make a good exfolient. Put them through a few turns in the blender and it is easy to use it alone with just water to make a paste or to add to the soap.If he will eat the raw oatmeal that helps too.Don't laugh too hard now!!!!!My son would eat the oatmeal right out of the bowl while I bathed him.So i had to have a bowl for him to eat and one for me to use in the bath. It works wonders for chickenpox .Stops the itching and helps the lesions to dry up without any sign of scarring..And during the day use whatever ointment works for him. It is so hard on you when the little ones are miserable.I hope this is helpful
