This here was my grandma Hill's Sugar Cookie recipe. My aunts helped her make cookies one day so they could get her recipe. Grandma was one of those - 'just throw this much in" type cooks. Everytime she went to "just throw this in" they measured it. They were the best tasting sugar cookies - Yummy!!!
Grandma Elsie Hill's Sugar Cookies
2 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
2 cups sweet milk
1/2 tsp salt
5 tsp baking powder
2 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp nutmeg
7 cups of flour or enough to thicken to handle.
Beat the eggs and sugar together. Add the milk. Add the dry ingredients. I usually mix all the dry ingredients with about 2 cups of flour and add that. Then slowly add the remaining flour until dough is totally mixed and the right consistency to roll out. I will refrigerate the dough for about an hour as well before rolling it out.
Just roll it out about a 1/4 thick and use cookie cutters. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes.
