I have made lots of sucker tops. I use medium to heavy weight tearaway stabilizer. Seems to do the job for me.

When I use felt to stitch on I never use stabilizer...that's why I use the felt so I won't have to stabilize. Haven't had any problems yet.

I just made a patch on felt without stabilizer and had much better luck than when I used the tear away. Maybe it depends on machine, thread, and pattern? I don't like all the lint that ends up in the machine, though, and I think I may try the real light weight soft stabilizer next time.

Yes, I agree. I know people who do not use stabilizer with felt, but I have found better results when I still use some. A light weight tear away stabilizer does the perfect job for me. Thank you. kt3234 Karen
