Okay, don't know if this question has ever been asked but here goes.
When you buy a membership to an embroidery site (ie. Sick's), do you download all the designs, just those you might use one day or just what you need at the time?
I find a site I want some designs from and it is cheaper to buy the membership (Yes, I bought Designs by Sick membership, of course the next day it went on sale,LOL) I know it takes up a lot of space, but I love knowing all these designs are available to me.
So, who has opinions on this?
      Thanks in advance

When I bought my membership..I spent hours going over every page and imagining what I could do with this one and that one and so on.. I set them up in their own caterogized filing folder. I don't know about SIC but some digitizers will retire sets eventually and then you can't get them. If I love a design, I usually get them and then I know that it is available when I want it. One thing about designs...you can't have to many..LOL

Personally, I have downloaded every single design set on the site and have them burned to a set of CDs. I did this for two reasons: it takes up less space than you might think, and people are always coming up with new ideas to use different designs in different ways (some ways that I might never have even thought of before) and I would hate to not have the design in question when I need/want it. Of course, I am somewhat obsessive, so maybe it's just me.

Oh no CutiePie - it is definitely not just you! There can be nothing worse (maybe that is a slight exaggeration!) than finding a use for a design that you have had available to you, but failed to save, and then your chance is gone. (There is something in me that makes it VERY hard to go back and pay for something that I could have had before for no extra cost)
Therefore my advice is 'take everything!'. Even if you only have a monthly membership there is time to download it all. And if space is at a premium store it on DVD disks. (Not thumb drives!) it is heartbreaking to have 8GB of designs saved, and not be able to retrieve them (don't ask me how I know this!)

I agree! Save as many as you can, even if you're not sure you'll ever use them. And back them up on good quality CDs frequently. I use read/write CDs and make 2 and keep them in separate places, in case one gets damaged or lost. It really is easier to organize as you go along, but you can always start organizing beginning today and then go back and organize a few of your older designs each time you get on your computer. Then one of these days, viola! They'll all be completely organized. It's never too late to start!
