Color Charts with download

How hard would it be to inculed the color charts when you down load a file. I just download the whole collection and no color charts Guess I am going to download them next.

To tell the truth, it would be quite the job at this point. Unfortunately, the color charts being available is a fairly recent development, or they likely would have been included from the beginning.

There are 756 sets currently on the site, and each set has 10 different zip files for the different formats. So, those 7560 zip files would have to be removed from the system (making them unavailable for download during the process), the color chart would have to be manually added to the zip, and then all the zips would have to be replaced into their proper slots in the download system. Even if this was done a few at a time, it would still disrupt site business and take up a lot of man-hours.

I'm sorry that you will have to download the color charts separately to get them, but at least that option is available. Personally, I never even use color charts, but just pick the colors from my thread collection that I think will look the best for the project I'm working on.

Wow, what a huge amount of work that would be! I don't really use the color charts either. I look at the designs in PED Basic and decide what colors I'll use. Sometimes, I use another program to watch the virtual sew out. I have looked at the color charts when I am deciding whether or not I like a set, but after I have the set, I usually don't.

It is not the download part it is the printing part as they are all in a picture format which means you have to print them 7500 prints wow LOL I understand and yes most time i change colors or use what I have on hand, but a lot of times the color the desinger did is just what you want. I had to ask LOL

Hi, Sewingguy, about the color charts. I don't ever use them either, but couldn't you just look at them on the computer without printing them out? My computer & sewing machine are next to each other, I use them like that all the time, because I have a digitizing program, and my sewing machine doesn't list the colors like I put them in anyway, especially Floriani thread, which it doesn't have at all. Lordy be, but that would be a super lot of printing!! And then what would you do with all the paper? You'd have to have a file cabinet just for that . EEESH!

I agree with what everyone says but it sure would be nice not to have to go hunting all the time, open you folder and there are color charts also, I am doing a download of them litttle by little and turning them into PDF's

They have 4 gig, name brand (Kingston) jump drives (some call 'em thumb drives) for under $20US at Buy.com. Load all of your stitch charts in one of them. Then they would be easy to access and you don't have to hassle looking them up. Just plug in the drive and use Windows Explorer to search through them. I would be sure to set them up in folders by sets to make sorting through them more quickly.

What I am doing is making a copy of the color charts and then combining them as one and saving as a PDF and it goes in the same folder as the files. Will take some time but will be worth it down the road. And since I am retired I have time. LOL don't tell my wife I said I have time, I tell her I am busy all day

how long are the color charts available online. I download them as I down load the designs right now but if I miss some it sounds like I really dont need them , after all that is what my imagination is for! But I am courious to know how long the charts will be on here for the designs I am getting .. btw that is alot I just got a year membership loving it..

The only time I look at the colour charts is *before* I download a design ... in what order are these colours stitched out; why does it state 7 colours when only 5 are showing (oh, it's an appliqué!); or especially ITH stuff. But I usually just open the design in Embird to study the process; sometimes I'll re-assign colours but it's not really worth the effort. And if I need a template, I'd print it from the design itself, not from the colour chart!

The color charts should be available as long as the design is available.

I use the colour charts all the time. I print them off when I download a design. I put them into folders. I have my designes all cataligued and cross referenced. I am with sewing guy on this one...I keep a notebook and write down what I have done and if I have changed colours.
