I was totally surprized when I came back to the forum today and found Patty's PM informing me I had won last month's contest. Thank you all who voted for my towel sets! I actually did three different sets, but for one of them I did not use DBS designs. They were or are Easter / Mother's Day presents. I only entered them to the contest because Patty was so desperate when there were so few of us participating in April's contest...
I used new tea towels, they are of a high quality cotton-linen blend, which means although they are very finely woven, they are of sturdy, not so soft quality. Therefore I only hooped the stabilizer and pinned the towels on. Worked perfectly, no puckers at all. Actually I do not use "original" embroidery stabilizer, but medium weight Vilene-type interfacing, I still have many many metres left from former sewing projects. Works perfect for all embroidery projects that call for cut away stabilizer. I used a fine (size 70) sharp needle and viscose rayon threads. Some of the Vintage Diamonds flowers I stitched with variegated thread - I can highly recommend that! Adds some depth to the flowers.
I sewed the loop / hanger on the opposite side of the towel, so the motifs will show when the towel is hung (e.g. embroidery placed in the lower left corner --> hanger attached at the upper right corner).
Again - thank you! It was fun embroidering those towels, and it is even more fun seeing that they gained your recognition.
Good to see I am not the only one that uses interfacing for cut away. I have never purchased 'cut away' cause I thought interfacing was the cut away they were referring to.

This was a very tight race. Congratulations to all the winners. There were 3 that came in second. The first time that has happened. And the only one that did not win lost by only 1 vote. Since it was such a tight race I am going to award you all a design. 2nd and 3rd place get a choice of the bird or strawberry design. When you have a chance send me a private message with your email address and your design choice. The winner will get all 3 designs.
