    Thread: Finger Puppets?

      Question Finger Puppets?

Is there a place I can look to see how the finger puppets are made? Are they stitched on felt? I know the concept (do the stitching and then add the backing for the final stitching?), but I'm not sure what fabrics to use.

      Thanks!

make sure it is washable felt, that kind lasts the longest.

I suppose you could also use a nice sturdy fabric. A friend of mine did and they turned out really well

I did mine on felt, but I have also seen them done on denim or a heavy twill. The benefit of the felt is that it doesn't fray after you cut out the puppet. If you use a fabric that will fray, I recommend using a fray-stop product on the cut edges.

Are there directions for making these? Are they made in layers then assembled or is the front embroidered in the hoop and the back floated underneath to finish? Nancy

Yes, at least the set I have done is created by stitching out the front and then floating the back piece underneath before the final stitch color (the outline).
