But they are used to getting something embroidered for them each time they come and this time, there will be just a "I'm sorry ... I cannot !" and a big kiss on their cheeks ! Did you see the new picture I put in my albums there is a drying line of "doudous" and young Melvil hung on his under it !!

In the UK we say 'coppers' even though our small coins are now mostly steel (copper plated), but they used to be copper&zinc alloy until those metals became more expensive than the coin's face value!

Matistat....you are going to be exhausted! My grandkids just stayed with me for a coupoe of days before they went on vacation. I slept very well! they just called me on cell phone from Myrtle Beach in SC on their way to Disney World......even the energy over the phone exhausted me! Have fun with those kids of yours, you can always sew later.......gotta go, my husband and I have a date for dinner, sans kids! Nancy

I currently own the SE and haven't had any difficulties with it and I bought it a year after it came out. Previously, I owned the Designer 1 (my daughter now has it) which is a dream. I swear I could thread it backward and it would still sew. But before those two machines, I owned the 1+ which was my first Husqvarna machine and it was a nightmare. I don't think I ever sewed a design without the thread constantly breaking, the tension always was off, etc. It was just a lemon of a machine. When I traded up to the Designer1, the motherboard went out in the first week. So, I'm really surprised that I have stuck with this brand despite the early experiences. Husqvarna replaced the Designer 1 with a new machine, and both the D1 and SE currently sew like a dream(knock on wood). You should demand a replacement if the machine continues to give you trouble. And once when I had to take the machine in for some reason (can't even remember what) I asked for and got a loaner. You have a right to expect the best from your machine because that it what you are paying for. I mean, the machine cost more than my first car!

I originally owned the Iris it embroidered fine however I made alot of errors due to not having the visual screen on the machine, once the designer 1t came out I traded it in for a used designer 1. I had problems with it one day when I used it was not working Since I did not have it for long I thought I was doing something wrong, did find out it was one of the 1st models out and there were updates to it, however the previous person that owed it never had it updated.Husqvarna Viking had it sent to a local repair dealer. it stiched normally however, embroidery was still a nightmare. In turn it was sent out to a dealer that specialized with Husqvarna. once everything was updated it was fine. Bottom line is there may be problems since this is when you puchased your machine is when it first came out. I would definently accept nothing less then a loaner. You have invested to much money for this machine and expect it to be resolved anyway and in a very timely manner.

I have a Viking Designer 1 and I have had nothing but problems with mine. Will I buy another Viking? NO! Will I recommend one to anyone? NO! I had it for a year and hardly used it because it wouldn't embroidery right. It was worked on 4 times before it was actually good enough to use. After I had the machine for several weeks I looked on the box it came in and saw that it was a used one. I never was told it would be a repack. Now, two or three years later I am still having problems with it. I wrote to Susan Haussman in Ohio about the problems I've had with it as one of the managers at a store told me to as she doesn't like bad complaints on their products but I never heard from her so apparently she doesn't really care. Oh, well, word of mouth does a lot of damage. I don't like to complain but when something isn't corrected or even attempted to be fixed then I'm going to let people know so they won't have the trouble I've had. My aunt bought a Designer SE and had to turn her's in for a new one.
My husband has a Janome and he loves his. He's never had a problem with it. If I had to do it over again I would buy a Janome. Someone suggested for me to sell it. I wouldn't do that to anyone. I'm too honest to take someone's hard earned money and give them a piece of junk.

My goodness ladies! I am so sorry you have gotten such poor quality in what is supposed to be a top of the line machines. I have had at least 40+ machines in my life and the first Viking was a 6440, a reliable jewel from the start till 25 years later I cracked her cast iron inards from using commercialy, I bought her sight unseen just because I heard one running in a back room of a local sewing store and I had never heard of Viking at that time (very young at the time) that machine purred like a kitten and did the work of a draft horse. I replaced it with my Viking 1+ of which I still own today and use daily although I am no longer in business, this machine has an easier life than my old 6440. I love the 1+ and neither machine has ever seen the repair shop, I maintained my own machines. I now also have the Designer Diamond, the machine runs very well with the exception of needing a tweeking of some sort last week from the "repair shop". I teach classes at a local shop and it messed up right there at class! So I left it overnight and that machine runs beautiful again. I travel alot with my machine so I thought it might be the riding in the car that jostled it, but I have heard of thread nesting and shredding from another site, so I knew it needed fixing. I am blessed to have a repair man that knew exactly what was wrong when I told him. Other than this one little issue, I swear by Viking machines. That first machine was under a 25 year waranty and less than 1 month left on the waranty when she died they could have replaced it, but I couldn't honestly do that because I used it commercially for years. About a year ago I bought a used 6440 machine for $75! It does beautiful heavy duty sewing! Just what I needed was another sewing machine! I get the 2 embroidery machines set up and running and I sit and sew at this old one.......she purrs also! I am currently looking for a Viking 1+ for my grand daughter, she sews on mine all the time and needs one of her own, shes amazes me, she is very talented at the whole sewing thing, she gets an idea and just goes in and sews it, 10 years old and she is not afraid of putting a zipper in nor is she afraid to adjust the tension! The joy I get from watching her is beyond words. Love my grand daughter and love my Vikings, wouldn't trade either! ps I also have 5 other machines and an old Elna Air Electronic I love, it is the one I take camping or on site to do a job because it is so compact and portable, I compare it to an old featherweight stitching wise, beautiful for heirloom and quilting construction. and that's my story, think I'll go write a book now!! Nancy, I changed my old Elna Air Electronic which was repaired only once - and I do no longer remember why - I bought it in 78 and gave it to my 2nd daughter when I got my quiltdesigner in sept. 2004. I got the embroidery unit "in +" they said ... bargain Fair5(Marseille show) price !!! I really had no idea of buying an embroidery machine ! I read in a blog somewhere that once you've put the finger in the system (machine + cpu), you're caught !!! And I'm absolutely hooked !!! But I'm afraid that you're a PRO when I'm only a "bricoleuse" ... Well, I sew my first log cabin on it (Elna) and a lot of clothes for my kids and myself ... I made a lot of embroidery with the quilt.Dsgn II and succeeded in finishing one whole quilt (the one in my album) and the assembly of another one my sister hand-quilted herself ! The cushions on my album (today) where embroidered and sewn with the QD II as well ... I have been sewing/embroidering baby "sleeping bags-with-sleeves- (how do U call them ??) but I have no pictures of them ! Thank you for this long post.

Sorry to hear that the machine acted up during class, what a time for it to happen. glad to hear that the machine was repaired in a day. It does sound like it was probably due to all the jolsting in the car. I'm sorry I was not complaining about Husqvarna Viking they are wonderful machines and would recommend them. I purchased my directly from Husqvarna Viking it was just before christmas and they changed their policy for trade ins being sent out to be checked to just selling them because they just wanted to push them out quickly. Believe me I did receive great discounts and freebies from them.

Yes I agree ... the price of my first car too .. . AND if this situation goes on another time, I'll ask for the replacement of the machine. For now, I'm awaiting next week so see if they sorted it out !!! I really think it is a factory-bad-problem ... I'll be patient until the kids are away !

Meanwhile, there is software practicing, knitting, clay raky making etc ... I have enough to keep my hands busy and stay positive !

Well, If I were you I would show my bad temper. Keeping such a priced machine non working is not worth buying it ! I would be more agressive towards who sold you that machine and even write all my correspondance and copy Husqvarna US and see what they have to say about this. If they do not answer the first letter, send others .. . In the end, they have to say something.

This is not my case. The machine was brand new, factory packing with no shocks nothing ... but even if I have very good relationship with my retailer, he wont tell me if he has any difficulties with other customers or if I'm the only "bad luck". I trust him. It's not his interest not to sort this situation out successfully. bUT IF this situation lasts too long, I shall ask to have a replacement.

When I changed the old Elna for the HV quiltDsgn II I made a short enquiry ... but I, now, regret not to have bought Bernina. Now, when I bought the SE, As I really had no difficulties/problems with it + I had some spare kits, feet etc ... fittable on the SE, so this is why I stayed with HV and the 3D software as well ... I added up the figures between staying with HV or selling everything and re-buying Bernina + software ... the solution came very quickly, loud and clear !!!

It is amazing to me how some machines are lemons and some are not. Just like some cars are lemons. Is it the day of the week they are made?

I do agree with mattsat posts 33 & 35. We pay to much money for them along with the software and supplies. We should expect nothing short of them working correctly. Best of luck to you.

Lemons are sour. When I call a machine a lemon I am saying that it is no good.
