LOL, That is impressive.
I've had my babylock since Christmas Day ... I'm sure it took me a few days to start my EXTENSIVE design collection I now have on my hard drive. Ok ... so almost 2 months into me owning my embroidery machine and I already have WELL over 3,000 designs, some still zipped and I'm still out there collecting "freebies".

LOL, That is impressive.
You are not the only one who is pathetic....add me too! LOL I have more designs than I have years to stitch them. YIKES that scares me.
And the 'pathetic' thing is when I start to make a special gift, I seem to get dizzy trying to find and decide on the perfect design for that special person.
There is no hope for me...but it sure is fun. And I'm happy to know I'm not alone. LOL
hahaha you remind me of something that used to drive my mom crazy when I was a kid. I would always remember birthday's, mom, dad, my brother & sister .. I was the one who "had" to find the perfect card for everyone. Yup - I'm doing the same thing in my craft life now that I'm old ... ummmm mature ... and adult, yeah that's it ... adult !!!
What is awful is the money I spent on designs with Dakota Collections and myembroideries.com before I accidently found DBS on e-bay in Dec 08!

Yep adult...I like that. LOL I also wanted to add and confess...I also have a ton still zipped! Why do I do that?? I'm telling y'all, there's no hope...sigh
I also belong to the pathetic embroidery design club. I don't think there is any hope for us.
I got my Memory Craft 350E for my birthday in Sept and went wild LOL! I have a 300 gig HD that I use for backing up files on and also burn to Cd at least once a month, I also keep them on my laptop and on my desktop PC. I am paranoid about loosing files can you tell?
It is so addictive isn't it? I am a member of several yahoo groups and try to make sure I buy designs as well as pick up the freebies ever one is so nice to offer. I am getting little better at not giving in to every sale that I see or signing up for every club that offers unlimited downloads LOL! Man that first month or two after I got mine I was paying out like 50 or 60 a month just in club fees LOL!
I started on Sick in Dec..I now have over 15,000 designs..is that crazy or what..got love them though/...Love the designs all the designs...i am so very addicted.....Sue
I agree with everyone of you. The designs are so great how can you not help collecting them. I don't know how many I have, but there are a lot. I just collected a 4 inch notebook of designs from Designs on Sick since January. I appreciate all the designs that they have given away.![]()
I fit right into the pathetic club. I have so many designs and have no idea how many. I just know it must be into the thousands. To top it all off, I have tons that still need to be unzipped. I just can't seem to get them all unzipped fast enough. With all the collecting of designs, I feel like I'm running on the spot. I run faster and faster but don't seem to get anywhere - that's how it seems with my unzipping. Oh well.....

All you who still have zipped designs: Get a multi-unzip program. You can find them for free by doing a Google search (I have ExtractNow and UnzipThemAll). Then, you can unzip dozens of designs at a time. It has saved (some of) my sanity.
Of course, the latest "toy" that I have been playing with is my Bulk Re-name utility. It is great for when you get a set of designs that are named something like "aiw1" through "aiw10" and you haven't a clue what that means at a glance. You can change all the design names to read "All In White 01" through 10, so you then know that the designs belong to that cute new wedding set you bought. Or, you get a set that is named something so generic as a1, b1, c1 . . . etc. It is so easy, and actually kind of fun.Yes, I guess I am something of a computer geek.
I'm very careful with renaming designs - as then I cannot tell duplicates easily. I only do this before putting them on CD's, when I'm sure I'm not going to store any doubles
Yes, I have it bad..oh Well. When you got it you got it..I am not going to INTERVENTION ...NO NO.NOT ME I'm just SICK
Sue
I have almost 4,000 designs from this site alone and I have been catogorizing for a few weeks now, I can't imagine the total from all other sites..... I wonder.....is it possible to live long enough to stitch these all out......if I start now? Nancy

after thought.....if I do have time to stitch them all out......will it leave me enough time to collect more! Nancy

Cool a mass unzip. I have a ton of zipped files that I've not opened up yet.
Oh lordy - now that gives me a thought. Are we collecting all these designs to emboider - or are we addicted to downloading them off the net! Addicted to downloading and addicted to machine embroidering. How many addictions have I got!!!
oh yes, ... we had a philosophical discussion about being hunter-gatherers about a month ago in another thread (http://www.designsbysick.com/forums/...ghlight=hunter) !!!![]()

We say over here we are recycled teenagers
It used to be shoes now it is designs, at least I throw out old shoes but designs never get old- oh-oh going searching again.
Hunter gather - I never thought of it in that manner. Food for thought.
And yes - we are adults Trish - this is theraputic - it relieves stress. That's how I've decided to think about it. The MECD - is a figment of our imagination. We are simply relieving the pressures of our complicaed lives.
Doesn't that sound soooooo much better?
