I plan to try it too somewhere in the future. So many projects not enough time. Got my solar threads today as well. Problem is I have so many must do projects right now no time for play with new ideas.![]()
After reading the article on double needles, I bought a "set" and hope to try her suggestions soon. Thanks for the informative article.

It look like something to make old designs look diffrent,
Sewing with a double needle is very easy. I have done it for about 15 years. Makes things look complicated, when they are actually very easy. First used it to do a stain glass quilt. Liked it so much, I used it on many of my projects.
I have never tried the double needle on my embroidery machine, but I have used it on my sewing machine. I guess as long as there is good clearance through the needle plate a double needle should work just fine. I may try it out too.

I have one of the needles too. Haven't tried it out yet.
I have wanted to try it and was so thrilled to see the article! I hope my Memory Craft 350E will take the needles I plan on checkign with my dealer and asking them. They are like here so helpful to everyone!
I have not seen the double needle designs. Would like to know where they are and want wing tips designs too. PLEASE!

I have used a double needle occasionally, but never used it with embroidery. Where is the article?

I should have looked under the articles tab on the toolbar before I posted the previous question. Good article! I never thought of using an twin needle with embroidery.![]()
I don't think the Singer 350 can take a double needle, but recently I read where you can use two threads in the same needle for shading. Wish I could remember where I saw it. Has anyone tried it?

I completelly forgot my machine came with a double needle. Even the little Disney machine comes with a double needle. I saw some designs that were specially digitized for double needle. but I am thinking about doing some letters with 2 colors so they'd look real dimensional. Have a great day! Sue
I'd be afraid the needle would break when stitching near the hoop...
But I am frequently using a twin needle for fancy stitches and two-needle flat seams.
i think that you are right I have a Simplicity SE 2 and it will not accommodate a twin needle. I tried several sizes and it is a risky proposition. Although the needles would pass through the throat plate. Once installed the postion on the shank would not allow it to pass or pass with a comfortable clearance. I think the smaller embroidery only machines do not have the larger opening of the needle plate because they don't do the repetitive zigzag movement of the sewing /embroidery combination machines. It is the carriage arm that moves during the machine embroidery. On some machines you can replace the throat plate with one that has a larger hole. That might make embroidery by twin needle possible.
I have embroidered with twin needle before, but only with designs especially digitized for it.
yes I would think this is possible but not for mine Good idea though!!!
I have a double needle for my machine also. I'm anxious to try it out. I never knew you could use 2 threads in one needle though for shading that's interesting. Will have to look into that more.
Check out my family album
Any machine that you can do zig zag stitching on can do twin needle.
