Help I am too. I search and find and come back every little chance I get. What do we do to get help for this affliction!

Smile; it increases your face value and it makes people wonder what you've been up to.

I still download designs too. Just getting a little more picky. I know have 25,000 designs...yikes... I have everything in proper folders, Now I need to slowly convert all to one format. My problem is I look at them when I open in my software and then I start looking at designs and editing them if I feel they need it. takes time doing that. Sometimes the stitch quality is so bad I just delete.

It's a sad addiction. I see so many beautiful things and I want to grab them all. I have no time to use them because I am constantly searching. **sigh**

I don't think it is so much about using them as it is about collecting them. It's kinda like having a fabric stash..you got for when you might need it...collecting designs is the same way for one day when you might need it you'll have it. Then comes the next problem of where did you put that design that you now need and can't find.

there are so many machine embroidery designs, I want to collect them all & sew them. I have sewn so many that I wore out my machine motor & it had to be replaced under warranty!!!!
You were lucky it was still under warranty pennykasteel - that must have been a LOT of embroidery!
I have a ridiculus amount of designs, both purchased and free, and of course have only stitched out a small portion of them.
My collecting of designs is intended to bring variety into my repetoir, because everyone has different tastes and I don't want to limit what I have to offer to just the things I like. (If I did there would be a LOT of people left out, because I usually fit in the 'minority' category when it comes to taste.LOL)
My machine can go from 8am to 10pm on days when I'm home. I start it up when I am dressed & only turn it off if I'm out in the garden or not at home.
Whoops forgat to ask, what do you all do with your test designs. When I work out how to start an album I post pics of what I do with mine.
I have to admit that I never do 'test' stitch outs - I watch the simulated stitchout in tajima ambassador, plan my colours, make notes if I want to only do part of a design, or merge several together, etc. etc. and then I 'go for it'.
If something doesn't work out quite how I wanted it to, I'll just keep working on it until I'm happy.
I don't do commissions (unless I have been given free reign on how it is to turn out) so there is no one to say that it's not right!
I would hate to waste any thread or material on a 'trial run' because my stock is all hard come by, and all my threads have to be ordered over the internet because there is NO WHERE in my neighborhood to buy it.
I buy all my threads from a wholesaler in Sydney (6hours drive) when I go down. MeansI have to think ahead. The local shops only keep the small really expensive reels of thread. I thought everywhere in UK was within a few hours of a fairly large centre. It didn't seem all that far from London to hadrians wall when we drove it.
I know we are a tiny little island LOL but it still takes quite a long time to get anywhere on my trusty bicycle - my only form of transport.
My closest town is Brighton, but there are not many craft shops left in business there, and the ones that are, only carry expensive kits and there is nowhere dedicated enough to stock a proper array of threads.
We have one really nice store in Vermilion. She has everything in material, and sewing things. She sells Pfaff sewing machines. Siobhan

I LOVE that sight!!! You have of course another attitude to distances living in a state that is identical with a whole continent... For us Europeans every place that cannot be reached within 15 min. is "far away"...!
motoandnutty, I have similar problems here. Even though I live close to and work in Vienna, I find it hard to get the supplies I need/want. There are so few shops that sell embroidery stuff, and what they have must be made of jewels and gold, according to the prices they ask for... So I too have to order via the internet (from Germany or the US!) and thus are very thrifty with my threads etc.

Our town is on 4 distinct hills. It's a common saying here that it doesn't matter where you go, it's always uphill.
Here in Alberta we got a saying to if you want to go some where you have to drive....It seems the house you buy is always in the wrong place when it comes to working, playing, etc. A lot of miles go on vehicles here in Alberta. Siobhan
