Where are you at? It was 80 here today and we are still in the 70's at 11:15 pm in North Texas. Almost needing the air on. I did laundry but not the cleaning you are doing. I'm working toward that goal but soooo slowly. I had two interruptions this week and now can not get motivated. Tomorrow is another day. Maybe some sewing too.
I live in Alberta, Canada.
My mother has just gone to live with my sister and left most of her stuff here in the Granny flat (One bedroom full barthroom and A huge living room with a little kitchen. I have started sorting out .......... what a job. Maybe sometime in the next century I will get finished because I can always think up reasons for it not to be today I need to hunt, and be on my computer, have a swim because I need exercise and of course taackle all the lovely projects that we are inspired to do with our lovely designs. Please can someone send me a housekeeping fairy! I really will be very kind and loving to her. LOL! Your cyberfriend Cheryl
Siobhan, Every time I read your first name I think of a character in one of Ian Rankin the Scottish writer ! I love his characters the inspector "John Rebus" (for a police man !!!) and Siobhan Clarke inspector too ..... If you do not know him and like reading police-like books ... c'est un régal !!! He makes you visit Edinburgh thru the small streets. When I read one, I cannot drop it !!!
C'était une parenthèse !! Just a parenthesis (is this correct ?) between two spring cleaning sequences !!! LOL !

Lots of us around, aren't there!
Yes, I download and download and download some more.
Free designs are my addiction, too, and it seems to me that there are so many more on the internet now that the economy is so bad.
I'm wondering if the digitizers are being so generous or if they just have more time on their hands because business is so bad. lolol
Another thing I've been thinking, embroidery is evolving so much that the designs that wowwed me 6 months ago are tame compared to the designs and in-the-hoop projects that are around now and it keeps getting better! So many people with so much creativity are involved in our area of enjoyment!
It's wonderful, isn't it?
Annnnnnddddddd...
I sure could use a good house cleaning, too, and I know I'm not the one who is gonna do it as I am disabled, sooooo...
anyone who loves to clean is welcome to stay here for a while! lolol
It's warm too...
maybe too warm for some! lololol
A cold front brings us down to the mid 60s in the daytime here in the mid-western part of Florida! lolol
One little note...
in order to sleep here, the room that would be used is my grandson's who only keeps it as his auxilary place to park after school and it would have to be shovelled out first. Young boys sure
can accumulate alot of sports junk! lolol He could just take it all home with him, if need be! lololol
Well, if you can live anywhere I know of a beautiful and well maintained Victorian here in town. This is a town of about 1500 people. It is the only town in the county and is on an up and coming tourism route. Lots of retirees moving here for the low cost of living and the mild weather. We're in a dry area that averages 72 in the summer (only a few days in August are over 100). Average winter temperature is 42 with a few nights a year in the 20s. A normal winter for us is just 14" of percipitation about 1/2 of it in snow. (This year was not normal.) LaCole lives about 50 miles due north as the crow flys and the weather is colder in the winter, more snow and rain. I think our summers are milder than hers too.
We bought the hotel for $56,000. Ended up being most of the equity we had in our 3 bedroom split level in Seattle. So we were mortgage free. Ever since we have made the same "house payments" every month. The money goes into reconstruction. Other than plumbing and Electrical we have done all the work ourselves. My dad helped us a lot not only with building but in teaching my dh and my son-in-law (when he was home on leave) how to do construction. My dh was raised in a home that actually called an electrician to change light bulbs. I'm serious. I am amazed by what dh can do now! We have reused all the original trim, bath tubs and antique sinks. We do have more modern fixtures in our master bedroom because I wanted a special place. I needed that jacuzzi for my back. But it is all in keeping with the original style of the hotel. It has been fun to research its history and the historic styles I should use.
The guest room will be done very soon. Any of you come out this way you are welcome to visit. I'd really enjoy that. Just e-mail me privately.

If my daughter is a princess, that must mean I am Queen.
Boblynn, you don't have to tell everyone how wonderful it is in this area. We want them all to think that it is congested and rainy like the west side or really HOT in the summer like central Washington. We have LOTS of dust! LOL.
A weekend getaway in Pomeroy does sound relaxing.
La Cole,
Oh yeah I forgot! We're supposed to keep this little corner of the world secret. Well it really is a good place to visit, if you stay you have to deal with the dust. lol Oh, yeah and there is that wind that flys that dust around and slams the car door shut on you as you try to sneak in with more stash. Every time dh hears me. They certainly need to know about that. Sorry I made it sound too good.

la cole and boblynn your area sounds fantasic! my sis-in-law lives in montesano, wa... which is a few miles from Aberdeen on the west coast of WA. she gets 85" of rain a year! it's so beautiful there, but i don't think i could take the weather... even in the middle of summer it rains! of course, i live in the middle of California. winter is great... most days it is around 50 - 60. summer however! we go several months with it being in the 100+S. i HATE summer! to me there is nothing worse than sweating and stinking! lol....
I sure wish i could be where you are...

boblynn lives in Pomeroy and I live in Pullman. Only about 20" of rain falls here annually which allows the dirt from the central part of the state to blow our way on a regular basis. For any of you who do remember the dust bowl days....it's not that bad. LOL.
We have yet to meet face-to-face but have plans to do so soon. Debi, I lived in the Sacramento valley for 3 years. It was way too hot for me and I disliked the gloomy, dark "winters." Then lived on the coast of Connecticut for another 3 years and never did get used to the humidity or constant light overcast. I need my sunshine!
We did a great deal of research be for we moved from the Seattle area. We needed more space for our company (publishing Co.) which we ran out 3 bdr split level. I also needed to move to a dry climate because I have had 4 backsurgery and can not deal with a humid wet place. We ended up here and I wouldn't live anywhere else now. No tornados, hurricanes, traffic the list goes on. Unfortunately there are no real fabric stores either... a few quilt shops and JoAnn's Craft store is all. But I love our sunshine even on days when it is cold it is sunny. Whoops sorry La Cole there I go making this place sound to good. Really really the dust and wind are bad. lol

I live at the southern tip of Illinois. We enjoy all the seasons, but are moderate most of the time. We are actually further south than Richmond, VA. But today the wind is enough to blow you away. Temp is warm enough (70) to be outside in the garden, but wind makes it impossible. SO...I am searching the web for even more designs. Must be insane!
Is that a picture of the valley you live in in your reply? It looks very flat, but it has a big open sky. I just love big open skies and I just love it! Blue most every day. If I remember right that part of the country is wheat country too! I guess the wind is just something you have to deal with in wide open places I guess.

I love that term ... Granny Flat... Here they are called Mother-in-Law Appartments. But Granny Flat is so cute. I seemed to experience the same thing as each of the other girls moved away from home. It is hard to make decisions about other people's things ...Wish you luck on your sort through, to me that is the hardest job. It is so easy to get distracted by this magazine or that old letter. (I'm a little ADD and oh so addicted to embroidery.

Yes, you don't want Garfield County overrun like the metro areas in Seattle and Portland. Just tell them it rains all the time and is gray 2/3 of the year - the second is true - and really hot with lots of snow (ok so it isn't Spokane or Tri Cities) - and smile and take the tourists' money as they pass through to and from the Snake. That way you won't be congested like the I-5 corridor.
Can someone refresh my memory - is Pomery where there's a cemetery and then a sign near the road that says, "Jim's fertilizer?" Hubby took a picture of that once and couldn't remember where it was and I thought it was Pomery because of Donna's Drive-In.

Smile; it increases your face value and it makes people wonder what you've been up to.
You bet, that is exactly where it is! Just down Main Street from me. Where are you from? You obviously know the truth about this area -- I won't repeat it because its our secret! La Cole is just north at Pullman -- are you my neighbor too?
