My hubby thinks that I am just a collector of designs. But it's amazing how many times those designs come in handy (when I can find the right one.) I agree that I have way more than I'll ever use; but it's fun to collect. Cathy

I have more designs than 'carter has pills'. I'm the same with recipes. If I stitched or cooked something different every day for the rest of my life, I would never get it done. And the unzipping...yikes I'm really behind on that, too...sigh
But they are sure fun to collect and use for just the right project.
I have the same obsession as the rest of you and I am glad that I have this one.
I have discovered that I love collecting a new free design and actually thinking of how I will use it. Of course, I never get around to using it. The grandkids have outgrown many of the cute designs I collected to use on a shirt or shorts for them.
My software needs the files unzipped to "see" them. I am waaaaaay behind on unzipping this year.
Never give up, never surrender.
My system of downloading has a lot of steps, but keeps me organized (sorta). I download all designs in zipped format labeled "download and sort later" When I have a few minutes, I open the files, delete what is not needed (ie. other formats or designs I won't use). I then move the keepers to a folder labeled "Need Sorted".
About once a week, I moved the "Need Sorted" designs to the appropriate folders in the Catagroies for emb file.
I also have a seperate forlder for purchased designs, that way I know what I can sell.
This sounds more complicated than it is. I am saving to by Buzz Tools or Embrid to improve my cataloging system.
Pretty funny when you have to buy something to control your addiction.

I too am a 'hoarder'. But at least with these beautiful 'free' designs they are not all over my house but neatly organized into their specific files. (The one place I am actually organized). LOL
I unzip mine in the folder they are intended to go and then I am now running SewClean and it deltes any unwanted files as well as any duplicates that i have gotten.
Now all you have to do is make you a folder on your desktop that says write so when you get them like you want them, put them in the write folder and when you are ready to write to CD you can select everything in that folder and write it. Getting rid of the excess formats before you save your files to the CD will give you way more room to hold way more files.
I don't think I have used much of my huge collections.
I spend more time collecting them. I don't go through
thread very often either,,,,but I love collecting them too.
I use them to stuff my computer ... and feed it a variety
of different designs. It is happy.

I think (know) I have way more designs than I will ever be able to use, but I love the collecting! I seem to be on the computer constantly. I too try to unzip mine and file them each week. It's what I do while I sit with my dad on Wednesday afternoons since they don't have an internet connection available there. My filing system leaves much to be desired, I'm afraid, but it's what I started with and it would be waaaaaay too much work to do something different now.
My biggest worry is where to put the hunt designs now, since I downloaded many sets with a short-term membership![]()
