Question Anyone embroidered on Wedding Gown/RingPillow? Advice pls

Hi! I like to do ringpillows and wonder how do i go about embroidery on Satin.

Do u normally use Duchess Satin or other type of Satin for RingPillow/Wedding Gown? Whats the stabiliser u normally use?

I tried water soluable stabiliser before but i think ebcause the design is pretty dense, its like 'cutting' the edge of the design when the embroidery wk is completed. needle size i think i use #11.

Btw, If i want to use metallic threads, what kind of stabiliser should I be looking for and also the needle size? Do i use needles for metallic threads? Or Ballpoint needles are fine too? Thanks

I think, you must have a try out, normally metallic needles have a wider "open" for the thread, so that could be a problem, otherwise metallic threas need this space, because it likes to break. Stabilzer under and on the top (WWS) will be a good idea!

I made one a couple of years ago...I used a iron stabilizer as the satin seems to stretch, I also used my large embroidery frame, did my embroidery first before I cut out the pattern because the frame sometimes does leave a mark. I did not use a stabilzer on the top side. Mine was made out of one of the brides mothers slip..she had passed away and she wanted something of her mothers to use. Almost forgot...I think I used a 75 needle. Hope this helps.

I started out embroidering on satin, since that is what I had the most of..also silk, I used a heavy weight stablizer and #11 or 12 needle..have had no problems at all with any of the designs..the kids love the pretty butterflies on the satin..can make great pillows with them. I didn't use any metallic thread and no top stablizer...hope that helps..Sue

When I did the wedding pillow for my daughters wedding, I just hooped the satin and the tear away and stitched like normal. I use metafil needles for my embroidery in my one head machines. then if I want to use metallic thread, I don't have to change.
