      Default Howdy!

Hi I'm new here. I just got my first sewing machine (Brother Innov-is 900d I totally love it) and it also does embroidery so that's why I'm here. I bought some designs and I'll be trying them out hopefully this weekend.

I must say I love how easy it was to purchase and download the designs. I'm so glad you sent me an email with a link to my order because I did have to go back and download a couple I missed. (woops!) Being able to go back the next day and download the ones I missed was a total lifesaver so thanks for that email.

I have a BFA in Digital Design and I'm addicted to the internet. I am hoping that after I get the hang of downloading designs and using them, I will then move on to learn how to make them myself. How does one go about contributing designs to your site? Do you have any recommendations on software programs that convert images into embroidery design files?

And one final question - What's this I hear about getting points for having your link on my website(s)? I like free stuff and I have sites I can put your link on.

      Thanks,
      Mel

Welcome to the forum, MadMel! You will find everyone here most helpful.

Points can be collected in various ways: downloading the daily, hourly design, and free hunt; clicking points in the side heading on the home page and following the instructions. But the best, of course, is posting in the forum. At this time, points cannot be received for having someone come to this site from a link within your website.

Welcome MadMel. Your machine is a really nice one. I'll bet you are really enjoying yourself with it.

Re the points - the whole system is something the owner of DBS is in the process of working out. The best way to keep up on it is to just check the Points info link on the left side of the Home page - where the designs are.

As far as the forum goes, I hope you'll enjoy it. The points are nice, but the info is even better, IMHO.

OMG yes! It wasn't the cheapest machine so I had to put it on layaway and make payments but I really feel I picked out just the right machine for what I want to do with it. And now I finally brought it home, yay! Having the USB port on it was definitely worth the extra money because now I don't have to go out and buy a memory card.

RE: Points... I got the toolbar downloaded now, and I found the hunt, and did all the stuff I could on there to rack up some points. Go me! And now I must say thanks to Mr. SiCK for having a points system so I can earn some free designs. Woo-hoo!

Okay so now how do I go about making my own designs too? Anyone know which software programs are good/bad?

      Thanks

      Mmmm... free. Will do!

I think George = her sewing machine? That's the way I interpreted it anyway.

The "hug it and squeeze it and call it George" is a line that was used in Bugs Bunny cartoons. I think it was used repeatedly, but I remember in one cartoon, there was this big, dumb character who talks about how he always wanted a bunny. Then he grabs hold of Bugs, smashing Bugs against his chest and stroking his ears back from his head. He has decided that Bugs is going to be HIS bunny. He says, "I will hug it, and squeeze it, and call it George!" Bugs has a strangled, tortured expression on his face the entire time.

I hope that helped explain, and not just confuse everyone further.

Slashie have you by chance found a ruffle foot for the 900d?
My local dealer isn't sure if the the one they have will fit on the 900d and we don't want to risk breaking my nice new machine to find out. I emailed Brother but no response yet.
