I get the same ones. I have never opened them but the subject line tells me it is crude and vulgar. I'm the same as you, hoping that no one else gets them with my email address on them. Very irritating.

      Question Jacobean

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between a Jacobean design and an ordinary one.

I'm not sure but I know they are prettier and they are filled in more than ordinary. I have noticed that the Jacobean here is the same everywhere even on some of my discs that I purchased. So maybe it's a brand and only one person knows how to make them that way. As I said I don't know, I'm just thinking off the top of my head.

Jacobean designs are those made popular in England in the Jacobean era ( the period in English and Scottish history that coincides with the reign of King James I (1603 – 1625). It is the period following the reign of Elizabeth (the first) - These designs are some of my most favourite!

You're welcome - hope I didn't sound too much like a history teacher! Really it is just enough to LIKE something even if you don't know how it came about. I am SO glad that fashions are so diverse these days, 'anything goes'!

I am glad to see the answer to this question. I have asked several of my friends and they did not have a clue. Now I have the story. Thanks for the history lesson(and this is not what I would have said many years back when I was in school)!!!

That's the difference between 'real life' and 'school' , dreama. When you are INTERESTED in a topic it doesn't feel like a chore to learn about it - I wish schools would understand this. It is why I home educated my daughter for the first sixteen years of her life.
She is now enrolling in Art College, even though she has no formal exams behind her, because she came across as enthusiastic at her interview and impressed them with her knowlege of the things she loves.

Thank you annmarie, I am VERY proud of her - she is coming up to seventeen, and still no stroppiness! I've been expecting a rebelion for years, but we are still 'best friends' and get along better than anyone dare expect!
She is a competant gymnast, a Lance Corporal with Army Cadets, soon to be an Art Student, and she shares my love of crafts - I could not ask for more!

      Default Great info- thanks !

Amazingly, FreeEmbroideryLibrary.org is possibly the only one I haven't been to yet - thanks for the heads-up on it. I prefer to hang out here, it's fun !

And thanks for the answer on Jacobean - I was wondering about that, too.

Happy stitches to everyone this day !

I think you'll find that most sites that only offer free designs, with no obvious means of support, have 'hidden' advertising deals that earn them money. (Most - but not ALL - a few are just looking for feedback about their designs, especially if they are just starting out)
A lot of the Yahoo groups I am with get 'up in arms' about a gentleman who's name is Mohammad who keeps changing his ID so that he can 'sneak' into the groups to advertise dozens of his sites. He has deals with various advertisers who credit him every time that someone visits the site. Rumors are rife about people getting viruses from downloads from him - but that may well just be people's way of warning you off.
His advertisements are easily spotted once you've seen a few, as the English is not very grammatical, and he uses the same sort of wording all the time.

I think I ran across that one. I was there for a little while and the next day I received hundreds of spam. I have never went back there again.

We need all the information about bad sites that we can get. I never got any spam or heard anything from that site at all. Hope it stays that way.
