I recall Shawn saying that points will be awarded days form now!
Shawn probably has a lot of work to go thru all our categorizing, I am sure that points will eventually arrive.

I as well. Not sure what it means.
If I stitch fast enough does it count as an aerobic exercise ? My husband said if I buy any more (fabric) (craft supplies) he would leave me - I'll miss him.

I am looking for more complete, accute info if avail. I have read sooooooo very many post and all with different information/directions.
I was under the impression that unless the "Fall" was in the title of the item, not to use it, but to use the seasons when it states. eg: RW Winter Sunbonnet Boys" . I would say that this is RW, then Winter, no event, not animal, boys, children, sunbonnet. I also read somewhere to use a few exact ones and not every thing it could be. eg: RW Winter Sunbonnet Boys". RW, cartoon, winter, christmas, not human, boys, girls, children, toddler, teenager, weather, hobbies etc. I would LOVE to help out, but I would hate to make more work for the person that is tallying the votes if I am not doing this correctly.
The other question that I would like to ask is:
Is there any info on the issue of after you categorize each design in the set... you can view other responses....On the right hand side it asks if you agree to ALL, yes or no. When I click on this it gives me this weird message which states "SELECT COUNT( * ) AS count FROM votes WHERE setname LIKE 'oldmacdonald' and designname LIKE 'lamb' and username LIKE 'lmtaylor6'That user was not involved in categorizing this set, please try another"
Are we not suppose to vote? are we just suppose to categorizing?
I have also noticed that there are some members looking for the points. I came across this post from SICK while looking for info:
"So, I'm going back to plan B (voting was plan C). There will be 10 people allowed to categorize a single design. The most common will be accepted. Anyone who submitted the entries that used the most common categories will be awarded points. So... GAME ON... start categorizing for real! The points awarding will start happening in the next days. "
Basically what I took from this message from SICK was, even though you are categorizing the designs does not mean you will automatically receive points. It has to be the ones that they will be using and that is why the points will come after. (( I wonder if that is why there is no exact, clear instructions?))
me neither, but we'll see..it just makes it easier to search anyway
thank you!
When you are categorizing, you are to use your own judgement. Categorizing simple yes.
I was under the impression that unless the "Fall" was in the title of the item, not to use it, but to use the seasons when it states. eg: RW Winter Sunbonnet Boys" . what you put here sounds great to me.
we are earning points by categorizing the same.
There is also a column in the animal that says Human Female and Human Male.
Personally I don't think as humans as animals, so I usually ignore those.
Once the designs are categorized, he will run a program which will decide which designs answers are the same. We are no longer voting, that is why he went back to plan B and change it to 10 people per set. also you do not have to do a whole set, you can do random designs. and points will be awarded by the most common categories.
I would personally guard against the use of the Misc. Category. If one thing fits it then only use the one thing.
Also look at each design separately and not just as a set.
As far as seasons. I look at the design and if it fits a specific season, then I use it.
example Easter - Spring.
We did decide that because SiCK is from North America, that we would categorize by those seasons. IE: Christmas is Winter.
I hope this answered some questions.
I know that there are plenty more, because I have lots. also.

I have gone in and categoriezed a couple of designs but I do think that we could use more "Tags" eg..
Alphabet, Bags & Zipper Bags, Basket, Bookmark, Bowl, Box, Calendar, Celtic, Coaster, Countries, Cross-Stitch, Doily, FSL, Holiday, Lace, Linen, Potholders, Quilt, Ribbon, Sport, Stippling
Suggestion for a new catagory: With so many heart designs (my favorite) how about a Love or Hearts catagory?
Cheri
I would think that Valentine's would be the best place for all the heart patterns
Thanks, Rebekah, Embroidery Wizard! That was the best explanation I have seen so far. I have been categorizing with how I would use them. I don't always have a tag I would use, but the more you have the more specific you have to be and the more you need. Sometimes fewer is better.
I pick not seasonal even if it is a Christmas design if it can be used in several seasons. It is difficult sometimes.
Also, I never knew what the "rep points" were, so thanks for the explanation.
As always, my questions have been answered. Thanks so much Rebekah....
lmtaylor6, avoiding interventions......still

The thing is that you are going to have to use these for searching instead of the current categories. so you don't want a spot for every design, just general, so that there are still reasons to hunt. If there was a valentine section then when you saw a heart, you would go there, as it is now you might have to look in holidays, lace, childrens or something. this is just and example.

How do these points show up? How do you know if you have any?
Pat in Cairo, IL
They show as a green square near the top right hand of the title bar of each message. You had 1 showing when I replied to you.
To check you REP points go to your user CP top left corner, and then go to the very bottom of that page and it will tell you how many rep points you have recieved and for what. also the higher the number of your rep poewer means that you have recieved rep points. answer questions and people can give you rep points.
The green bars are given to people by how much help they give by the administrators. We have no control over that.
