Categories for points - revisited

No you din't, I just am not too bright when it comes to abbreviations..my fault..I have a file on my computer for freestanding lace that I put those designs in..and projects for just that projects to me means bookmarks, boxes, whatever looks like it could be a project..I also have others I use to be able to find what I am looking for (we hope) we will see as I keep adding more and more

I have a file called projects on my computer..I put bookmark, boxes, gift tags..that kind of thing in..I also have a file for free standing lace..this is where I can find anything I think makes good FSL.I have several files that I use at home to help me find what I am looking for ( We will see how long that lasts) with all the designs I download all the time

As we are collecting these beautiful designs and storing them in our computer I know they say you should back them up in case your computer breaks but how do you back up your files? We've only had a computer for about 2 years so I am a little computer illeterate. Romans1212

We understand each other now. When I came first here on chat, I didn`t know what emb means and also have seen for the first time LOL or lol. I asked people on chat what is it mean and thay explain it to me. LOL

To back up your files it is good to have any external hard drive or copy them to cd or have a second Hard drive on your computer. Or even a large jump /thumb drive.
Anythin, so that you have a 2nd copy in case your main hard drive fails.

I appreciate the help on copying the files. We have a friend that set up our computer and my husband uses it for buissness( He has a wood working buissness called The Carolina Woodwright with a web site) but we both have a lot to learn about computers. Thank you. Romans1212

I laid my glasses down & misplaced them for about 2 hrs & I was trying to catagorize, any way & I thought I cheched the Alphabet box & it was the Applique box. I am sure there is no way for me to go back & change it. Is there?

I probably have to stop writting for today for my husband uses the computer to bid jobs, draw plans and make out invoices so I can only use it when he doesn't need it or I'm not working myself. Romans1212

Sewhotmama, there is no way to change it. I would like to change something too.

I think my system works best of all. For example I have all my outlines in one folder. Animals are in 3 folders 1Air 2Land 3Water. Transportation is also 3 folders.I did most of my folders this way becuz I got tired of opening folders in my design program to see what I have. I also have a folder "Design Pics" I print an updated copy every 2 months I use to show people when they ask me to put a design on something for them.

I have a writeable cd drive in my computer..I use a rewritable cd so I can back up on it again..Put it in the slot and tell your program to copy those files..usually I will go to my computer and see all the drives..I then click on the files I want to backup and drag them to the disk..That should work..You can always use a the pin drive by putting in a usb port and do the same thing..I hope that helps

Seriously, 3 people voted yes to a clown design belonging to the BUG category.

So, I'm going back to plan B (voting was plan C). There will be 10 people allowed to categorize a single design. The most common will be accepted. Anyone who submitted the entries that used the most common categories will be awarded points.

So... GAME ON... start categorizing for real! The points awarding will start happening in the next days.

Where do I look to check if I won a few more points for categorizing ???

The points were suppose to be showing up in a few days - a few days ago. I don't know if I just haven't earned any or if they have not been posted for anyone. If you have received any points for categorizing, please let me know.

Maybe Shawn or Cutiepie will jump in here, but what I understood (or maybe assumed?) is that the points won't be given until all the designs are categorized and Shawn can then run the program to see where the matches are, enabling the new search method to go into effect.
