Default Categories for points - revisited

Sorry, I've been off doing other DesignsBySiCK.com business things. I looked at the voting for submitted category results, they aren't all that great.

Seriously, 3 people voted yes to a clown design belonging to the BUG category.

So, I'm going back to plan B (voting was plan C). There will be 10 people allowed to categorize a single design. The most common will be accepted. Anyone who submitted the entries that used the most common categories will be awarded points.

So... GAME ON... start categorizing for real! The points awarding will start happening in the next days.

Thanks to wienerin for this post...

I finally figured it out - I don't follow words very well - I do better with pictures.

Anyway, hope this helps - on the left side of the home page, click on "Design Sets" and then click to a page # - page 1, 2, 3, etc. Then click on "Vote for a Design"

On the next page, each design that needs categorizing will have a link to do so underneath the picture:

Thanks for this excellent explanation - I've got to go out for a couple of hours, but will certainly have a go at this when I get back. I had hesitated to get involved before as it sounded as if it was getting complicated!
Thank you for all that you do for us - I know every one of us is grateful for this mega undertaking,

Guess we will keep working on this. Do we need to start on page one again?

When categorizing a design I look at the design and decide where I would first look for it. Then if I could not find it there where would I look. I am not putting more that 2 choices on a design. If everyone would try this it would better place the designs where they need to be.

Ok, now with the explanation I think I can catagorize a few designs here and there.

I think this is an excellent suggestion for most of the designs. There are some types that easily fall into several categories, such as vehicles. They can be trucks, cars, transportation, men, and occupations come to mind. For the most part, however, I will stick to 2 categories. I am avoiding the categories embroidery, misc., and other. I will only use them if I cannot find another category.

Good plan to avoid Misc. I think that if it fits anywhere, then it shouldn't be in misc.
I would like to see a category for linens, because there are lots that should go there, but then I think the animals is way too many.

I have done a few. Yup, some could go in lots of catagories. So, like mentioned above, I will try to keep it to the two main categories and not use misc unless nothing else seems to fit.

the more items you add to the categories the less chance we have of matching and making points. So think about what the design is really about.

Did anyone find out if we need to start over? ugh!

It doesn't seem that we have to start over. I went to the sets I had already categorized, and it says I already have done it. So, I don't need to do them a 2nd or third time.

Since Shawn now wants 10 individuals to categorize them, maybe those just starting should start at the beginning? I'm not sure if he has changed the coding to allow for the 10 yet.

The more people doing this, I think the more helpful it will be to Shawn. I found I was doing it too fast and making mistakes. So, please be careful how you click. It is very easy to click the wrong box.

I was just over starting another categorizing session. I am on page 5 now. I see that I am the 6th person to start categorizing the jeeps, so Shawn has definately changed the code so that he can now get the 10 categorizations done.

Please help Shawn out and take a few minutes to categorize some sets.

if that is the case with the jeeps on page 5, then anyone just joining in needs to start on the first page. that would also include anyone who did not already do those designs because 5 people already had.....whew lots of back tracking for some of us.

Tried to do BW Unicorns but no unicorn or "other" category in animals. I'm stumped.Having the same sort of problem with other sets.

When I find a design I can't categorize (like unicorns) I avoid the categorizing of that group. Animal category is overloaded and adding more would be crazy. But, just general categories like zoo, mythical, wild might help. (There is already a farm category)
