A lot has to do with the format you downloaded and software you are using. Most sites offer the color chart they used. If not send an email they are usually very good on sending you that info. I think VIP Or VIP3 are the best.
Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to embroidery but have purchased several designs, my problem is when i want to emb them out the color charts are very different from the pic i ordered. I have 3d emb and 4d emb programs, the designs don't look nearly as nice as i saw them on the site i purchased them from. Anyone have any ideas as to why. Thank you. Denise

Ok. Now you have got my couriosity. I too would like to know if there is a better version (PES, XXX, HUS, etc) that I should be downloading. Also, if I have a XXX or other file type and I convert it to PES, will I lose any quality in the stitching of the design?
Thanks.
I would like to add a comment if I may. I don't ever use colour charts - instead, working with BuzzXplore I print out the design and then work through each colour change and make a note (1,2,3,4 etc) on the printout which part of the design is being embroidered. That way I create my own colours & I file away the print out and then can change the colours easily next time I embroider the design. I always buy PES format designs and then convert to SEW (Janome) using BuzzXplore. Works for me. Dee
There was one place where I read that all of the different machine-stitchout format files contain basically the same information, with a few formats which don't include things like what the colors are, and a few others which include a few extra kinds of information, depending on the age of the format and which embroidery-machine manufacturer it is (or it originated from).
