This is so darling! Your granddaughter will be the best dressed person around! I love the smocking - did you do it by hand? And the big hem - she will wear it for a while.
Here is what I have been working on for my 7 month old granddaughter as a surprise to my daughter for Easter.

Beautiful Molly, just beautiful. I'm sure your DD will be surprised and your DGD will look lovely in her new dress. I love little girl dresses with the big bow in the back.*

WOW! The dress is beautiful, windstar. I so admire all of you who are so talented and patience to take care with the finer details to make it so special.
Never give up, never surrender.
that dress is wonderful, the smocking is so beautiful with those soft colours and the pearls, and the detail with buillion roses on the button is precious, that little girl is gonna look absolutely adorable in her new outfit
Yes the smocking is all done by hand. I finally have a reason to get back into my smocking. I am working on a dress with ladybugs in the fabric and I am doing bullion ladybugs on the collar for Taylor of course. I will post when it is done.
Thanks for all the great comments everyone.
This is beautiful - you should be so proud! Is this first granddaughter? So many dresses - so little time.....
Takes me back to earlier years - staying up nights working on Easter dresses - I have 6 granddaughters - the youngest graduates high school in June...where did the time go? Love every minute and every stitch. Again - beautiful work!

Such a lucky little girl to have such a talented grandmother. She will be picture perfect in this lovely dress. Happy Easter to you all.
This is beautiful dress. Something I try to aspire to creating without success. Stunning and full of admiration
Love like there is no tomorrowLife upon the Earth is not a burden to be borne, but a joy to be learned and shared with others
Windstar, You have done an extrodiary job on the dress. You should be extremly proud of yourself. Also with doing all of the smoking by hand within itself is an art that is being lost through the years. Taylor I going to extremly beautiful in it and the best dressed girl around, with GM making all these beautiful items. Thank You So Much For Sharing.
Thank You, Have aDay

Ladies, You all have made my day with your great comments. I hadn't felt like doing much in the sewing department since my Mom passed 'cause every time I'd make something special I would share it with her 'cause she sewed and crafted as much as I did. With not being able to share new things with her a little of that spirit just left me and I'm trying to get back to doing what I love. I haven't seen Taylor in her dress yet but when I gave it to my daughter yesterday her jaw just dropped and she asked me how long had I been working on it. It was a joy to see her face light up. Thank you all so much.
What a beautiful dress. We would love to see the baby in the dress![]()

Windstar, Taylor's Easter dress is beautiful. Your work is so elegant. As a smocker I know how much work in involved, and I am sure Taylor was stunning.
I learned to smock when my girls were 10 and 12. Since dresses were out, I smocked nightgowns! Thanks for sharing.
