Do I need a different need needle?

I am wondering if I have to have a different needle to embrioder on knits? I am sure everyone else knows but me! I have only embroidered on cotton or cotton blends. Thanks, Dollyj

For knits a ballpoint needle is used so it won't cut into the fabric. I use an 11 on my sweatshirts without a problem but a 14BP would work.

Allstitch.net has a chart which is great for deciding which needle to use. Click on educational info and it will tell you about stabilizers and needles also.
