I am so sorry to hear about the Brother and the service you got from them. It seems that the sale is more important than the customer all over the world.
I hope you will be happy with the Singer - make sure you have a spare bobbin case for it.
My baby (Brother SE 270D) is at the doctors. It started making a funny noise, safety device kicked in and shut down, hand wheel wouldn't turn. Called Brother - they said take it in to be serviced, and you can look on our site for the nearest dealer/service/repair.
So I did. But they neglected to tell me that I had to have a service order to be repaired, now waiting for them to send it to the repair shop so my machine can be fixed, otherwise I could pay $135.00 and possibly more if they find other things wrong. Once they get it it will be a week or more before it will get fixed. Could not give me a time frame, just "will call me when done". UGH!
As I was talking to the one girl there she told me that this machine is not made to do continuous embroidering... only set up for 2 or 3 times a week.... Ridiculous!!!!! Have you ever heard of such a thing????
So I left my machine, went out to the truck and started telling hubby - well, would you believe that I started to cry?! Ugh! I am 52 years old and I should not be crying over something so trivial. But I had big plans. No babysitting for 10 days, can finally get my unpacking done, and do up lots of stuff so I could set up a table and try to sell things for the rescue. Make some much needed money!!!! So I guess the disappointment just hit me hard.
Well, my hubby (the most wonderful guy in the world) went on the computer when we got home. He went to the military shopping site (afees) and ordered me a new machine - this one is a Singer Futura CE 150! After reading up on it it sounds like it could be a good machine - can't wait for it to get here to learn all about it. And ALL my designs (around 5,000) will work on it.... I am so happy now.
I may not be able to embroider today or tomorrow or even for a couple days, but at least its not weeks.
So Brother made me mad by not making sure they gave me all the information that I needed for it to be serviced but my hubby came through and made me happy!
So take that Brother and if I like the Singer more - well, lets just say you lost a customer.
I am happy again.![]()

Horse Rescue, so happy that you're getting another machine. When you get your Brother home, you can use it for a back-up to your Singer. Your husband does sound like a keeper.

I've never heard that Brother 270D isn't for contiuous duty. When I get the chance to sit down and embroider - I do it for hours at a time for a few days a a time. HMMMM! And I never go directly to Brother for anything - I always go to my dealer. My ex boguht the machine for me and he paid the extra $50 to buy it from the dealer instead of Walmart. The dealer offered training - but they hve benn a godsend on helping me out with my "issues" as well.
Well I'm glad you are getting the new machine and I hope all goes well. If you get the Brother fixed, then you can work on two items at a time!!! WOOHOO!!!!!
Praise God for wonderful husbands!! I have never heard anything so stupid!! 2-3 times a week indeed! Aafes is great, hope your new baby gets home soon. Oh, I cried for days when my last baby died!

Well my PE700ll did the samething when it was three months old it took eleven trips back to Brother to solve the problens. It was out of warranty before they fixed the machine costing me $380.63 plus the cost of shippung. It works now but not as well as my old Brother PE400D said to say. I have learned the new one was made in China and the old one was made in Japan. The newones are not as strong.
God Bless America we sure need your help
Hi,
So sorry that you got done that way.. sad.. What a sweet ,wonderful husband..
I think you will like your singer futura.I have the singer futura
250, and I have had it for 4-5 yrs.I love it. I have had no trouble
out of it at all.]And I use it for hours at a time... NEVER heard of a
machine ,that could only be used a few hours a week.. I am shocked
they couldnt have come up with a better excuse ,than that.ha.
Hope your soon enjoying your machine.. so proud you have a good, understanding husband.. Nothing like them. I am 55 and I too would be crying, if mine tore up and couldnt get help.ha. Judy
I'm not sure who you talked to at Brother because I have never heard of a Brother machine you could only use 2 or 3 times a week for short times. Giving them the benefit of doubt maybe the person you talked to was new. Plus any sewing machine store will tell you things so you will buy a bigger machine. I only have a Baby Ellure from Brother. It was on sale for $1000 when I purchased it 2 years ago. I told them what I wanted to do with it and was told there was no problem using and embroidering every day, just make sure it's serviced regularly. Maybe you should write a letter to Brother and tell them what you were told and how long it will take to fix plus they need to know they didn't tell you about the PO to fix the machine. Even though you purchased a different machine, Brother needs to know why they lost a customer, in my opinion.
You are so right, I need to do that - Brother needs to know. They make it so you only have 1 choice as to where to take your machine for repair and I was not happy when I left there.
Oh yea the girl at the dealer/repair shop told me "do not tell them you run a non profit!" and right after that is when she told me it was only made to run 2-3 times a week, not for continuous embroidering. "if they know you run a non profit and making so many things they may not honor your warranty". Such crap!
Yes, I think I will write them and give them the whole story and that we bought a Singer - ummmm, I really don't think Brother will like hearing it.
Thank you all for your support and love - YOU always make me feel so much better.
New baby will arrive on Wednesday - looking forward to seeing it and start learning all over again. First on the list of items to make: my grandson a "pencil case" then on to trying those FSL Pony Soap Holders.... so excited, so anxious .... is it Wednesday yet???????
Love you all!
Sherry
I have a Singer Futura and LOVE it! It can read most design types, so you don't have to convert them. You might want to go to Yahoo groups and join one about these machines. People there are very helpful.

I think you really need to contact Brother. I have a 250D and a 750D. I run both of them constantly making hankies for trips and I have had no problems with either. When I told my repair man what I was doing he said neither machine should be a problem using them that much. I have put over 4,000,000 stitches on the 750D and 2 million on the 250D, so yours should NOT have messed up like that. Also, your dealer really needs to be reported.
PS. Glad to see you back on the site!![]()
My husband discovered the attorney general this year. We had an issue with Dell computers that went on for over a year (They had our money and insisted that they had returned it!)
Anyway, it was amazing how fast they moved when the attorney general stepped in! We got our money and an apology...and a "Dell special assistant" in case we ever need anything...(Wow, what a change!
Hey, maybe when you get the brother fixed, you can trade it in for your upgrade?
Deb
I hope you have better luck with your futie than I've had with mine. Never have another one. And they have a new one now that sews, embroidery, quilt and serger. I see that one in the shop even more than mine.
