      Default "picture" quilting?

Has anyone found any online videos for making the picture quilts?
My father painted a beautiful picture of Jesus in 1945 while in the hospital during WWII. Sadly it has gotten older and before it is "gone" I wanted to copy it in a quilt. But I have NO idea how to even start!

      Thanks!

Take a picture of it and you can get sheets from walmart or fabric stores that are fabric but they go in your printer you scam the picture you took and it prints on the fabric then you peel the backing off and use it like a quilt block I hope this helps

I have done many picture quilts wall hanging. I left a very long post yesterday but when I hit submit the site went down. I was looking today to see if it did get through but it didn't. I am not going to write it all over again with the full explanation. If you are in the US send me a PM with your phone number and I'll call you and explain how to do it. You can look on my album and see an oriental wall hang I did with pieces of material. I have also done pictures of mountains and water, forests, etc. You can look on Nancys Notions web site and see that type of quilt. They aren't mine but I've done some like it. I don't have pictures of mine as I sold them. Also, a good friend of mine, Pauline Salzman, is nationally known for her picture quilts. We all had quilts in our museum with some other nationally known people. Those quilts were every kind not just picture quilts. Below are some of the picture quilts at our show.

123mccoach, I have no idea how to do a picture quilt, and I don't think I want to learn to do it, but the photographs are stunning! It is very difficult to imagine that it is done with fabric!

They are very easy once you know the technique. If you go on Nancys Notions web site you will see some of trees/forests. She has done many with pics she has taken while driving down the road. You would think they would be boring but in fabric it brings it alive. I am sure MystyDeb will not have a problem. I just don't know if she lives in US or not so I can call her and walk her through it.

I will have a look at Nancy's Notions later tonight, thanks, 123mccoach. By the way, if you can do picture quilts, you can embroider on jeans!

Maybe you can take pictures of it in sections. Then put the sections together. Just a thought.

Yes I have embroidered on jeans. I have 2 pair. A girl can only have so many. I don't wear them any more because they have gone out of style in Florida

My DH gets yelled at every time something goes wrong with my computer. I let my 13yr old grandson and my daughter use it, then when I get on it somethings wrong.

The painting you want to copy can be as big as you want the quilt to be. If you don't want it that big or you want it bigger, trace it like I said below and take it to Office Depot or Staples and they can enlarge or make it smaller. It might be easier for you to trace if you take a picture of it and enlarge it on your computer, then take it to Office Depot or Staples to have it enlarged as big as you want your quilt to be.
