Congratulations, teddy_rn! You must be so relieved - what would our lives be without computers and machines!
My brand new computer arrived Wednesday but...I was on the way out the door to Ft. Benning. I'm home now and have just finished setting her up. My last one died 3 1/2 weeks ago while I was a patient in the hospital; evil virus got her.
I bought a souped up Dell with Windows 7 and an older program for my 4D program. By the Grace of God I had purchased a 3 year subscription to Carbonite on line before Christmas!!! The first that I have done is start restoring my designs and my family photos! That subcription has just paid for itself in that every single thing that I have purchased and downloaded in the past few years is now restored and safe. I have to wait for all the downloads to finish so that I can check on the 4D but I am happy to see things popping up all over and knowing that my treasures are safe.
THANK YOU Quiltsilly for suggesting this lifesaver last year otherwise I would cry forever!
God's Blessings, Deborah;

Glad you are back amongst the computer living - lol. Sounds like you got you a "hog" machine there Deborah.
I'm so happy to hear that you had everything backed up online. So, the service paid for itself, you say! Great news and thanks for sharing.

Hello,
It is so good that you could retrieve all of your designs and more importantly family photos. I'm sure that was a really happy aha moment!
Sincerely, Kat
What a wonderful ending to a story that could have been a desaster! I'm very happy for you Deborah. Dreama
Deborah, glad you've gotten your new toy in and got her up and running. A 'puter is like a side kick and what would we do without them.
Ginny.... we need to hear from you.
Watermelon..you are missed.
Tracy...where are you.
Deborah I am so glad you are up and running again. It seems like forever when our puters are broken and sick.
HUGZ! Sharon

I am sooo happy now!!! All of the down loads are complete from Carbonite and I have installed my 4D! Everything works so much better and faster than ever. I am especially happy that I remembered where the installation disc and product license code info was stored! That was tricky for a sec because I forgot that I stored the code in a super safe place 18 months ago. I will use a sharpie marked and write it on the disc now so that I have it 'at hand'. The Dongle has always been in the computer so no problem there. Ok, off to play now!!

Congratulations Deb. You are a wise one. I have all my stuff backed up with Mozy, a similar system. It is great that all your treasures are safe back at the new computer.
Hugs,
Thanks for letting us know how your restore went. I think you and I are in tune with each other since we both have the Pfaff 2170, are using 4D, and rely on Carbonite to keep us backed up. My gut reaction was that Carbonite was truly doing its job well, and now you have verified that for me. I agree that the peace of mind you can get from an off-site on-line backup is worth gold when you purchase it, and its worth is beyond price if you actually do need it.

I keep my embroidery designs on two external hard drives. One I take with me when I go over to Texas, and the other stays at home.
Enjoy your new computer, next best thing to a brand new car....

Philippa, I agree that it is smart to have more than one backup. My stuff has a second backup on flash drives and CDs. The advantage to off-site on-line is that if something disasterous happens to my home like fire or flood there is still a backup that has not been compromised because it is not here.
