      Question Chinese made machines

I wonder if any of you has a Chinese made machine. It seems the American Machines are sooo darn expensive that I have waited a lifetime to get one like I want and at that rate it will never happen. So, I am thinking about getting a chinese made machine. Does anybody has one and what do you think about them, quality wise and how good the designs turn out (of course that depends on design too, but in general). I am getting ready to get in debt to get one. I have a few ideas that might just make me a few bucks, not get rich, but maybe help me some bills. Everything I have ever made, I have given away as presents. Anybody out there? I have a Husqvarna Rose that I just love, but it takes me too long to set everything up and the designs are way too small for some of the projects I have in mind. Denalilady-Alaska vacationing in Puerto Rico Yeap! My son works for the airline, that is why.

Sorry I don't know about Chinese machines but I'd sure like to hear what others say about them so I'll be following this thread. Are you talking about a regular home machine, an industrial machine or a 4, 6, 8, 12 needle machine? Most likely, if anyone is going to reply, they might need a bit more information on the machine you're interested in.

A good bit of the machines and other things you buy are made in China.

I love my Husqvarna Designer I. There are so many different hoops that the possiblities are endless! I try my best to never buy anything that is made in China.

I am not sure where Janome machines are made, but I have been using them for sewing and embroidery for over 20 years and they still run great.

Thumbs up Cinese made embroidery machine.

Yes, I have heard that they are great. My rose does beautiful work. However I want to move past the very small designs and also, I want to be able to be faster and in this machines, you can get up to 15 needles that you program with colors and it does your designs in a one two three and it is done.

I have looked into American made machines, and they just want an arm and a log, and I just want to know if there is anybody out there who has bought a Chinese made machine and how they have turned out.

Thanks for your reply. I am still trying to find anybody out there with one of those machines.

My janome MB 4 is a 4 head machine and does app. 9 x 11 sized embroidery. It goes at about 800 stitches per minute, but the commercial usually only use 600.
Commercial machines are expensive and you also have to think of where is the mechanic when things go wrong, and they will.

I don't know of anyone that owns one of these machines. but, it is true that most of the components that are used on our domestic machines are imported from China. Many of the machines are even built in China and labeled for the domestic brand. These machines are brokered through American companies. But,the most important thing that Rebekah says, you will have to be concerned with is the maintainence of your new love child. Most machine warranties are not honored if you bought your machine from another dealer. And training could also be a concern. So finding out how to set up your maintainence and training programs would be where I would begin. Most companies service agreements provide free repairs during warranty periods .But require that the owner pay for travel and hotel for the mechanic. If you can do this then I would say"go for it".Good luck I wish I had the money to do this too. But, for me it is only a dream.

It may help if you could tell us what machines you are thinking of buying that are made in China.
It is a little hard to comment when we do not know which machines you are talking about.

There are many Brands of Commercial machines with 12 to 15 needles.

I have a Brother HE240, 4x4, little machine that I adore. This machine is the cheapest on the market. Her name is Joy and is a workhorse. It sews beautifully. It has been sewing non-stop in a perfect way, no matter what... even in my first months when I didn't know about stabilizers, needles or about cleaning the bottom of the bobbin and made a lot of mistakes.
      No complains here.

My machine is a Pfaff. One of the features highlighted when I bought it was that it has automatic variable speeds so that if the area being embroidered is dense, the machine automatically slows down. That means one less area where I have to pay attention.

Do not know if other machines offer this feature or not, but it seemed like a very advantageous one to me.

I bought a TFI 15 needle, single head embroidery machine, made by Zhejiang Brother Sansilou in China. The machine looks wonderful, but I have not been able to get anything embroidered and that was last June, 2010. I received no manual or owners manual that would tell me step by step how to do stuff or a troubleshooting guide, so, not being able to find anybody to help me out, I am stuck and frustrated. Now, I write to the company and they won't respond. So, there! Stuck in Alaska.

I should say that I hired a local technician that after 3 hours and $725.00, the machine did not work, so I don't think this tech had any idea what he was doing. Vilma

Vilma, I can't help you either, but maybe these people will. I think it is worth a try, in any case. The technician's name is Warren and a very helpful person.

Vilma the place to ask this guestion is a site called http://www.digitsmith.com it is a place that they sell used machines and can give you all the advice you need. You can get some great deals on used ones and there are also companies on there that sell machines with warranties I am a member and have been for 2 years I came close last year to getting my commercial machine.

I bought a Singer cause of the name. HA. Some company in China bought the company just for the name. I have had 3 machines so far. The first one lasted 2 weeks and Singer tech support said to return it to the store! That's really bad. Can't happen again so bought a second one. Boy was I dumb. That one lasted 3 months. Told Singer that I wanted another one. We don't do that, you send it in and we repair it. Your cost to send it. BULL, I'll take you to small claims court. They sent me a new machine. It's been in the show 3 times in less than 2 years. And when it came back from Singer in Tennessee it was worse than when I sent it.
I bought a used Deco 330 for $350 with the magic box and over $200 in thread from a friend. I LOVE IT. I know that Janome makes it for Bernina. No clue where, but it's great. Only thing that bothers me is it doesn't hook to the computer. Hate reloading that card. But do like the built in fonts. Just did a key fob with that. I figure I can take the machine to the market and do them to order. Have some of it already stitched and just add the name and the last satin stitch around. That will be super.
Don't buy a Singer CE anything. Piece of junk.

Vilma did you purchase this machine over E-Bay or something like it? NanaJ told me horror stories about things like this! You know the saying "if it is too good to be true...". Sadly this sounds to be the case.

I purchase a Pfaff Creative 2.0, had it for 10 months when it quit! The company sent me a brand new one, had the same machine for 14.5 months when the exact same thing went wrong. I was beside myself but went back to the same dealer "Charlotte Sewing Center" and traded the machine off; got a step up to the Creative 4.0. From the second I purchased this machine I have noticed a huge difference in the proformance! Bill told me that there is a design flaw in the feed dog system of the origanal design of the feed dog system which has since been corrected. Thank goodness because Pennie purchased the same machine AFTER the corrections and upgrades.

Pfaff and my dealer really stood behind their product and me! If nothing I would always purchase the product because of my dealer! He is awesome.

I understand the frustrations when our machines don't work right. I am in the process of becoming a tester for a Chinese machine for a man that wants to become a distributor. I am also helping him to understand what us home sewing maniacs need and want. I will keep everyone posted, I don't have to pay for the machine
