There is no real cure, rickiehale. Only help to feed it. That's what we do here.
However, there is some underhanded help going on in the form of dedicated scientific research. The symptoms as well as the 12-step cure have been posted here before, but it never hurts to see it again:

Please let us know if the cure works for you!
Never give up, never surrender.
Cure, no such thing! Its all political anyways....they just want us to be the same as them because they do not understand us.....
NEVER....NEVER I tell you.....

No, I don't want to be cured, now I have discovered this addiction. I embroider morning, noon and night. i even set Baby up for the next day, ready to start as soon as I finish cleaning the kitchen. i have 120 fsl tiaras to embroider, each one takes about an hour and half to embroider, have my other projects also. No, I don't have time to be cured.
I have come to the conclusion there are many sub-addictions to this craft:
Collecting designs & threads is like collecting baseball & pokey man cards.
I can spend hours arranging and rearranging my supplies and my sewing room.
Having fun organizing all my designs on my new Embird software.
I just got everything organized and backed up, but then there is tomorrows new designs to find. What's a gal to do?
annap
And I don't even have to turn on my machine to have fun.
My son thought he had found a cure however; I had a severe allergic reaction, experiencing rapid pulse, racing heart, cold sweats, elevated blood pressure and partial loss of consciousness within one minute. However, I was immediately administered an antidote of 1 immediately purchased design set (gift purchase); download free designs prn; search for new designs prn; and needles, thread and fabric prn and receive gift cards always to prevent withdrawals. I have not suffered additional symptoms from the cure, and my ATM card is kept on me at all times should I suffer a relapse and need a quick infusion.
problem? I don't have a problem! I do LOVE to machine embroider and everything that goes with it... designs, thread etc. But it's not a problem!
Seaislandmist......you are way to funny....but I totally agree!
As a very experienced Registed Nurse I have discovered that when a patient has an addiction to it that we are better off finding a way to work with the SO CALLED addiction rather than attempting to cure it. Any attempt to force a cure results in extreme un-pleasantness for all within striking distance! Again, as a professional, I would recommend a continued and steady balance of designs, stitching out, trips to purchase stabilizer/thread (this can be achieved on line) and hourly hunts to keep the patient very stable and happy. Be sure to offer items to embelish regularly, praise often and provide chocolate!

Hi my name is Missy and I am a THREAD-A-HOLIC.
I got a new sewingroom and I am moving stuff into it. OMG I have machine embroidery thread like you wouldn't believe. From the expensive ones down to the cheaper ones, Poly , metalic and Rayon , changing colors to glow in the dark , and I have more coming in the mail. I honestly did not realise how much until now.Since I became aware of this adiction I have notice then when I go onto my groups and on E-Bay the first thing I look at is the thread for sale. I just wanted to share this NOT be cured , haha
There is not cure for embroidery addiction... it is an addiction!
Life is too short even on the longest days.
There is no cure for our addiction, we can't even find a 12 step program to help us out......we just have to live with it and make do with each others support and encouragement. But just remember it is a heck of a lot cheaper and easier on our families then alcohol or drugs, and they get a big benefit from our issues. At least that's whaat i use as my excuse when i start getting harassed. LOL
Just a beginner here.... it was scary to read the symptoms of... well... being addidcted to embroidery...but I am , I stand up and say " I am an Embroidery Addict!" I ask, Iss it really bad when I keep my debit card in a tray beside my Bernina??? I can never download enough....... sorry, had to change the thread, LOL
Looking forward to getting to know everyone here, Happy sewing!!!
Welcome aboard. Most of us can't be cured because we don't think curing is necessary if we are only SiCK.
