Default Digitizers, what do you need in artwork?

If I send designs to a digitizer, what points do I need to concern myself with?

Do you want separate drawings - one for entire design, one for outline, one for color fill, etc?

Do you need the art to be clear of stray pixels?

When you a piece of clipart or a drawing in an email to digitize, is there anything about it that makes you dread getting started on it? What gets in your way or slows you down?

And on the other side of the coin, what does a "perfect" bit of clipart look like when you open it? What makes your job easier?

Thanks for any input on this!

Thank you for your reply, matistsat. Maybe I didn't ask my questions well.

I draw pretty well, but I don't digitize and I can't see myself learning how to digitize anything any time soon.

I would like to copy and adapt some antique cutwork designs and turn them into digital graphics that a digitizer can work with.

Because I don't do any digitizing, I have no idea what kind of files are easiest to work with, or how I should draw the designs? Line drawings in 2 colors? Line drawings in greyscale? Full color fills? Should I indicate the direction of the stitches? Make several drawings for the stages? (i.e.: One for the outline stitching, another for reinforcement, fill and finish?)

Maybe I should just draw something and post it and let the digitizers try it and tell me what needs to be done with the drawing after they've worked with it.

With my very little experience, I would say that the simpler the drawing is the best it is for the degitizer. Lines or color filled what ever. What I can see from clipartpolis and other selling pictures they leave the picture "treatment" to the degitizer. All degitizing software include a picture treatment dedicated software. Then it is the talent of the operator and the capacities of the emb.software with make the difference. Furthermore, I now see the necessity to learn "how to interpret a drawing" with the dedicated embroidery vocabulary and all the stitches offered by the software. I hope you see what I'm trying to explain .... may be my English voc. is a little "short" .... Don't you speak French ?????
Bed time for me now .... A demain ... Ciao !!!

I emailed Rob the other day with a photograph I want digitised. Rob chopped out the background and left the subjects. I did have to rescan the original photgraph to 300dpi for better resolution. I am now waiting to hear from the digitizer regarding my photo. I am going to stitch this photograph on the reverse of the wedding quilt I am making for the Glenn and Julie. I don't know if this helps any. it is a colour photgraph I used with a lot of detail in it. i.e the wedding bouquet, bride and groom.

ICQ ( I seek you) is one of those instant contact chat sites.

Yes, it's my ICQ (I Seek You) - it's one of the first chat/instant messaging programs. I hardly ever open it any more, but it used to be fun to chat in real time with friends or family.

So okay.... for a very detailed design, I'm getting that I should make the graphics of print quality - 300dpi.
