I also collect way too many designs....not enough time in my life to stitch them out.

Not sure which addiction is worse - the designs or fabric. Have have collected & arranged some wonderful fabrics & colors, but not yet happy with my skill level, so just keep collecting, arranging for that future beautiful quilt.
I've the same problem also
3d embroidery designs
I have not been at it as long as some people have but I do have a sizable number of designs. I have started a database to list all of them and also categorize them so I can find them when I want them. I will not finish it soon but a little at a time and I think I can manage it. -- Aileen
Welcome to the embroidery world. I know what you mean, Collecting patterns is absolutely addictive. I have to remind myself to do less collecting an more sewing.
I am so with you there RWood. I am ready to move my embroidery machine upstairs where the computer is that is hooked up to the internet so I can do both at the same time. Way more designs than I will ever use.
All I can say is that it is good to have this forum as a support group! Too many designs, not enough time.

I think the nice thing about collecting and reading posts is that even if you don't have time in a day to sew, you can still enjoy your passion here for a matter of minutes in a day! It keeps me inspired and motivated. And often, the things I learn here save me hours of trial and error and makes it easier to have productive time when I do get to sew.
What a day for a daydream!

Ditto on what you learn here, I too have saved myself from mistakes. Thanks for being here.

Good thing collecting designs is so addictive - If they can't get my computer up and running again with a dvd drive that can read what the current one burnt, I will have lost a bunch of my designs - fortunately I have copies of my favorites- but will be collecting some I lost again!![]()
WHoever is trying to fix it might be able to get all the information onto a disc, but if not have fun collecting and put everything on a USB stick. Much safer.

Hi All,
My name is Anne and I have an addiction(s).I have just bought a Janome 300E and have discovered the delights in machine embroidery free patterns.I have a full blown addiction, I will never use all the patterns, but I must have them just in case I may need them some day.The one I don't get maybe the one I will need.I also buy heaps again I may need it one day.I see I am in good company, lol.
I also have an addiction(s) to quilting, knitting, crochet, hand embroidery, scrapbooking, photography and too many more to name.
Do what you love for the people who love what you do.
I couldn't whack, so disliked and reported.

granniebea - I am a Janome owner - for me it is the 200. I love it. The hoop size is perfect for quilting. I do wish from time to time that I could do bigger designs on my clothes, etc. I have very little trouble with my machine and when I do it is typically because I have neglected to clean it for a while. My dealer showed me how to clean it to keep it working smoothly.
Haven't been enabling all my fellow Design Collecting addicts lately, lol. Have a new reason why is it so good to collect large volumes embroidery designs that we will never possibly use.
The collecting of designs, cataloging and sorting, playing with software, saving our designs several, etc etc., makes for a wonderful learning experience. All these things improve our computer skills. I know many people my age who are not comfortable with a computer. I am sure I would be one of them if not for the embroidery collection addiction. I have learned about moving, sorting saving files. Interenal, External hard drives. USBs, sd cards, dvd and cd burning.
Such useful skills all because I have an addition.

keep collecting everyone, computers keep getting smaller with more storage, gotta fill it up
I am addicted to this site. I wake up in the morning and rush to my PC to see what new designs are available. I try to come up with excuses for embroidering something. I have 2 teenage boys and I am forever trying to find something that would be acceptable to them. Now that they are teens, I can't make them nightshirts. I do find some patterns that I can turn into ornaments for various occasions (valentine's day, Indy 500, Arbor Day) and can give them to friends and teachers. I will even travel 50 miles to get my machine fixed quickly, rather than wait at the shop that is 10 miles away. Don't know what I will do when it won't work anymore. I will have to choose between a new car or a new embroidery machine!
NICE!!!
Adavisx3, just saw your port & wondered if you bought one of those programs that sorts your disgns for you or did you do it yourself? Any advice would be really great as it was hard enough searching through @ 50 designs, now I have hundreds,![]()
Thanks very much,
AM
