Default Bernina Auroroa 43 and Happy Voyager problems with Windows 7

I just bought a new computer and tried to set up my machines but neither of them work.
The computer doesn't recognize the Bernina Dongle. It tells me to plug it in to the USB port and I have tried 5 different ports but it just keeps telling me to plug it in. When I try to open the Bernina program itself it won't let me - it just says there is a problem with the dongle installation.

As for the Happy it seems it needs to be upgraded to be able to be installed in Windows 7.

Both embroidery machines worked great with my Windows XP2 system.

I've emailed both company's but haven't received a response yet.

Is there anything anyone can do to help me?

Which version on the Windows program do you have?
This could have something to do with your problem.

One version of Windows7 is suppose to allow you to run old software that worked in the older versions of Windows such as XP.

Check the Microsoft website and see if there is information about running older Windows Software.

My new computer has Windows 7. I just tried using the program for incompatability with the Bernina program but still got the error message that the security device is not installed. How can I get the machine to recognize that I've plugged in the dongle?

I'm going to see if it will work with Happy next.

I tried to install the Happy Voyager again. It's telling me it needs a 64bit version to be able to install. Any ideas where I can get this??

There are different versions of the Windows 7 program.
You may have to update to a different version so that the old programs that ran on XP can run on Windows 7.
It may be Windows 7 Professional - not sure of the names for the different versions but you can look that up on the Microsoft Website.

      Also there is probably a 64 bit Windows7 and a 32 bit Windows 7.
It sounds like you have a 32 bit Windows7 program.

Also you may need some extra files from Microsof as updates to Windows7.
Run the update for Windows and see if there are any updates for your version.

Windows is a Microsoft operating system and you should be able to go to |the Microsoft website through your update and see if there is more information there.

You may also need an updated Dongle driver for your machines which should come from your machine dealers or their websites.

Can you look on your computer under MY Computer and find what version of Windows 7 you have.
      This is a start.

Then run your update for Windows.

If that takes you to the Microsoft Website see if there is any information there or if there is a link to Windows 7 programs.
Then you should be able to read what the difference is between the different versions of the Windows7 software.

there is probably a version for Home and Students which will have some featrures and then there should be another that is more professional that has all the extra features and capabilities.
It may be that version that enables one to run older programs that ran on Xp or other older versions of Window in the Windows 7 envirornment.

Windows 7 is really different so you may have to look for the information or email your questions to microsoft and see if they can help.

You may have to pay to get an upgrade for Windows 7 version that will allow you to run older programs on it.

What version of the Bernina Software are you trying to load on your Windows 7 computer?
Is it Version 6 or older?
Was the Bernina Software that you have for Windows XP?

I may have an answer for you once I know what version of Bernina you are using.

Also need to know what Windows 7 Program you have .
Do you have the Home Premium Windows 7 edition or the Professional edition.

From what you said it is a 32Bit Windows7 but need to know which edition or version you have.

Also if you have a lower version or edition of Windows 7 and it came with your new computer you may be able to upgrade to the Professional Version of Windows 7 for free or minimal cost.
The Professional version of Windows 7 allows you to run XP programs in XP Mode.

My new computer has Windows 7 Home Premium.
Both company's answered me today, finally!
Bernina is working on the W7 update and should have it done within 3 weeks.
Texmac, Happy Voyager, is going to email me some files with instructions on how to fix the problem with their software.
      I'm getting closer!!

Thanks again for your input and ideas.

      Kat
What Version of the Bernina Software do you have??
I do know someone that has the Version 6 Bernina working on Windows 7 and I have emailed her about a file she downloaded from Microsoft to get it to work.i

3 weeks is a long time and I wonder if it will be longer as they have to test what ever fixes they bring out.

For anyone thinking about buying or upgrading to Windows 7.
First you have to know if your Windows system in upgradeable to Windows 7.

There is a program free to download from Microsoft that will check your computer to see if it is.
Also here are some links at Microsoft for you to learn more.

      http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...e/default.aspx

      http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...ion-of-Windows

      http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/help

      http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w.../compatibility

      http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir...c/default.aspx

      http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...sked-questions

If you bought a computer with Window7 Home Premium you can upgrade to a higher edition such as Professional or the Ultimate edition.

And something else to check is your printers , scanners CD/DVD players/writers, mouses etc that you use on or with your computer are compatible with Windows 7 if you upgrade or buy the whole version.

This information can be found at Microsft by doing some digging and clicking!

      Lots to think about!

Just wanted you all to know that the folks at Texmac called me and walked me through the upgrade. The had to send me 2 files via email which I had to put on a flash drive then plug it into my Happy and they talked me through re-configuring the machine itself. I also had to download the new versions of their software and the USB driver and install them.
I hope this helps anyone else who has a Happy machine of any model.

I'm still waiting on Bernina to update their software and post it on embroideryonline.com.
