      Default Towels

I really had problems with my design placement on the towels I did. One of the large towels came out too low by 1/2 inch. It will be too hard cut the design out of a thick terry towel. There are four lg towels in all. Should I make two one way and the other two another way?

Sorry can't help you much Roxanne. I have only done a few kitchen towels and the first one I was just learning on and the text was too small so I just put a flower under it. I am sure if you went out and bought some there will be some that aren't in the same position.

I would do that because they are towels it might not be that terrible.
So don't bother cutting the design out of the towels.

You could cut the towel in half and make two kitchen oven towels or use one of those cute little towel hanger designs for each one. And just buy one more towel to make your set of four. Just a thought.

Could you show us the towel. It may not be that bad. 1/2" isn't that big of a different on towels.
If it bothers you to much, I would just buy a new towel, and have a set your proud of. Towels aren't that expense.

I agree with skipper 1/2 isn't that bad and probably noone will know but you or you can buy one towel to reploace the one towel. I'll bet it's not as bad as you think. Most times with handmade items no two are exactly alike.

Thanks for all your comments and help with these bath towels. I have taken a picture of the towels side-by-side. They are in my Embroidery projects section. What do you think? Should I be an Uber perfectionist of just learn from the experience?

Roxanne, I looked at your photos of the towels. I don't think the placement difference is really anything to worry about. You will notice it more than anyone else because we're always hypercritical of our own work but most likely no one else will even see it. I think it's fine to leave the towels as a set.

      Thumbs up

Debbise is right we are our own worst judge. I looked at your towels and they look fine. If you had not said something, I would not have put the fine eye to it. I don't think anyone else will notice. They look great. Towels were the first thing I learned on and still have problems with placement. I think because of the bulk.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. I will just leave well enough alone and move on to the next project. Lessons learned!

I have finished the towels and I am moving on to the next project which are kitchen towels. They are less bulky!

I agree with everyone, who says we are our own worst enemy. I remember when I first started, I did a big heavy hoodie with a logo. I did not know about using a table or anything for the weight, so of course the design separated a bit. This was a customers shirt and I was sure they would want me to go and get a new one and forget about what I thought was a disaster. But my friend who worked in the commercial business told me to wait and see what they said, The came loved it, paid and left very happy. Since then I have begun to be less critical and try to get opinions from people who are consumers and not embroiderers.
