6 needle embrodery machine

Any opinions on a 6 needle machine? I have this weekend to decide if I want to trade my 2500D Brother in on the bigger machine.

What are your thoughts?

I have a PR600 and love it. It is so much more reliable than my sewing/embroidery machine. But all it does is embroidery.

Another thing to consider is would you get more money for your current machine by selling your 2500D privately.

Sometimes you do not get a good trade in price for machines at the dealers and are better off selling it privately and then just buying the other new machine.

As far as the 6 needle semi commercial Brother machines I have read pretty good reviews on the machine from people that have purchased them on many of the groups I belong to.

Personally I want a 16 needle machine commercial machine - the Amaya XT as the more needles the better.

And yes 6 needle machines only embroider so that is a big consideration if you also need a machine for sewing.
You may not want to let your 2500D go if it sews and embroiders.
It may be a good back up machine to keep.

I have heard a lot of good things about the Brother PR600..it holds it's value and is quite user friendly..I'd love to have one or better yet a commercial 12-16 needle..but then who wouldn't..God Bless

I have 3 other sewing machines, so trading up to the PR600 would be great so that I can do more than sit and change thread when doing a design. I have been doing alot of FSL in quantities that would wear out the 2500D.

I can get full value of what I paid for my 2500D as trade in from my dealer. Actually, he is getting a PR650 in soon, it could be mine!

I have a PR600II and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I don't know what improvements have been made with the 650, but am certain you will be happy with it.
Before I bought mine I considered a machine with more needles, but with six needles on the go it is SO easy to change thread whilst another needle is being used, that the number of colors I can use is limitless. (and I honestly think that a larger number of needles would be a hindrance, as the middle needles would be just that bit harder to get at, and you're bound to need more colors than needles no matter how many you get!)
So I say - if you can afford it get it, no hesitation.

Hope you got the machine. I have an Janome MB4 4head and I love it also.

I say, Go for it!!! But if you do not have another sewing machine that you are happy with you may want to keep your 2500D. As a transitional machine I think the 4/6 needle Janome or Brothers are a great choice. If you can stand up under the payment a 12/15 needle would be fantastic. Whatever your choice if you can afford it and you want it. I know you will love it!!!!!!!!

I have had my BabyLock BMP-6 for quite a few years and love it more every day! No joke.
It is bigger than the normal machine but still manageable if you want to take it somewhere like a Fair to do custom work at a booth or on vacation if you are that addicted to embroidery!

It is great having 6 threads instead of one to work with at one time. It saves so much time you will never believe it. My machine with 2 sets of hoops including hat hoops (the most costly of the hoops) cost me LESS than a new combo Bernina or so called 'top of the line' combo Janome machine! I saved so much I also was able to buy the BabyLock 'quilting' sewing machine, the 'Espire' at the same time to sew with. If you cannot afford a 6 needle wait.. It is not worth buying a smaller/regular machine if this is your 'dream' and wishing you had been more patient, believe me, I did that once too. Never again!

This machine has never missed a beat. It's similar but a bit hardier than the Brother 6 thread machine. It is really easy to use. They have stepped up to several new models from mine now but I can still upgrade my BMP6 to a BMP8 so I can use some of the newer hoops. Buying a nice, clean low stitch BMP 6 and upgrading it or a 'showroom' model BMP8 might be a bargain if you can find one.

This machine is easy to use and even self threads. It has a built in 'help guide' in the bright color lcd display so you can look up stuff if you get confused without using the books (which are really well written!). If you can afford to buy two sets of hoops do so!!! (ALWAYS make a special 'deal' with your dealers. ) These machines run themselves so well that you can let it run and be hooping a second project at the same time. It is far more stable because of it's size than say a 'lighter' model like the Janome 4 thread machine so it can easily run at speeds of 1000 stitches a minute (a bragging point for many machines but few run at that speed very often!) without skipping a stitch.

I would never own another combo machine. They just cost too much for what you are getting. This machine can be easy enough to use for hobby purposes and sturdy enough to make some money doing embroidery without wearing out! I will keep my sewing machine and when this machine is all wore out (I can't imagine the day!) I'll buy another BabyLock multi-needle machine!

well for me its a good idea. But you should be ready for so many things will change on its features and abilities.
