Klarina I will add my several cents worth: we need to have one block for each state for each person so if there are 20 people then you need to make 20 of each state that you signed up for. If anyone drops out this will create a mess and we will have to take up the slack but I really don't see that happening.
Pennie, I am glad that Klarina posted the sample because I thought I was gonna go blue trying to explain this without pictures!I am way to visual and have trouble trying to understand how something will look without a picture.
Klarina I love the sample. Had no idea what the state would look like. I plan to piece my quilt in order of when the states entered the union! Alaska will be last because she came on board after I was born![]()

I have a blue fabric that was part a bolt from when Mitchell was in the Air Force; it was used to make squadron scarves that the flight crew members wore with their flight suits. These were worn all over the world to represent the 39th TAS from Pope Air Force, NC. That will add a special something to the North Carolina blocks! I always knew that there was a reason to keep those last several yards of fabric![]()

Speaking of fabrics, I have been thinking about something... It turns out that I got this huge lot of white fabric that I bought for pennies from a guy that sells closeouts from the fashion stores in Los Angeles.
The fabrics I bought are of a white thick cotton with good body. They are cut in irregular form approx 10 inches per side. I embroidered some of them then sent them to the washing machine and the results are great.
What I have been thinking is that I would very happy to donate this fabric for our 50 state quilt.
If you want to, you can PM me your name and address and the number of states you will be doing and I'll be more than glad to send you guys the fabric.
(And don't ask me why or how, but in this deal I got more than 5,000 pieces of the same white fabric, so I have more than enough to share. lol)
What do you say?
WOW! Such a deal as this you can NOT pass up!

Hi, I would like to join the swap also. If HI and AZ are not taken yet, I would like to do them. I haven't quilte in a few yearsm but once I saw the block I know I can do it. But can someone tell me what a jelly roll is? Beside something you eat. LOL
Thank you - Yvonne
Hello and welcome to our swap. A jelly roll is a long strip of fabric that we buy all rolled up into a roll that looks like a jelly roll ( a donoughnut) and it is is 2 1/2 inches wide which is what the size of the boarders of the quilt blocks we are going to be doing.
Hope that explains it.

Teddy I have emailed you your and your sisters state files. Let me know if you have trouble with them.

This quilt is a great idea! It would be fun to do one like this again in the future with the state name on the bottom of the block and the center filled with the state bird or state flower. Putting the state capitol on it would also help the youngsters learn these capitols.
We are up to 21 states picked so far, I think that is wonderful. Like I said before I have never done anything like this before, this project has only been opened for a few days and we are almost half way there. This is going to be sew fun![]()

America, the Home of the Free, because of the Brave.
Here is my block. I added to it with the date we attained our statehood and a short fun fact. I also used the fabric from Mitchell's old Air Force squadron.
