Sally, thanks for taking the time to let us know about it. It is good to know as much as one can about pitfalls and other alternatives, and the only way is when somebody tells about it.
I got so fed up with eBay and PayPal, having been cheated both as a buyer and as a seller, after years of paying and earning money for eBay, having been afflicted by feedback blackmail, having had false PayPal scam claims made against me, I finally, no matter how wise I had become to try and avoid such issues, decided to give eBay up as a bad joke.
My buddy is in EXACTLY the same boat; he decided to launch his own fraud free auction site to get back at eBay, <a href="http://www.vbid.me">v Bid me</a> (do NOT use the link code if it is not allowed – if links in the html arte not allowed simply put "v Bid me"); he does not charge sellers listing fees or commissions for basic / regular listings, which is nice. But me, I think I have decided to go for legal action against eBay and PayPal.
I want to share some info and advice with others, to help them I hope.
PayPal - Open a second saving or whatever account and use that one for PayPal, so you can keep nothing in it. Just use it to receive your PayPal bank withdrawals and then immediately transfer it into your real account. Then if and when PayPal try and grab money from your account, they can not. Also, only ever use a credit card with PayPal, never a debit card. This is because you can not claim money back (for fraud) from a debit card, but you can with a credit card. So if PayPal grabs some money from you or you pay for something you do not receive, etc. you can then apply to your credit card company for a refund (from PayPal); they hate that!
Paypal feedback - Got a problem with a buyer or seller - too late or can not leave feedback on Paypal / Paypal remove your feedback? Find an Paypal user warning site and leave feedback for them there; just look at what Google shows for certain Paypal users names (search for the likes of "leonmad", "majabali" and "history_relics")
I hope this helps. As I said, I am going to sue eBay and PayPal. If anyone wants to chat about this, let me know.

Sorry you have had so many problems. I have dealt with E-Bay and PayPal for 10 years and have only had problems with 3 sellers; got our money back from but not the other two. We have dealt with some really nice people. hope things work out for you.
God's Blessings, Deborah;

good luck Sally Grace.
and thank you for sharing the things you have learnt
there have been quite a lot of issues with paypal lately (see this other thread)... I'm really considering to cancel my account there
Wow....that is almost scary. I am not a fan of PayPal either ever since I ordered magazines which turned out to be from a fraudulent "seller". PayPal said "tough luck" basically and it was only thanks to the credit card company that I received my purchase price back. Our son IS a fan of payPal and thought I was nuts, but our experience was not good with them. Thanks for the heads up.
And, thanks to this forum for providing us an opportunity to learn about this, and other stuff, from those in the know.
Thank you for posting Sally, and I wish your friend luck with his auction site.
Shawn (owner of DBS) has also given up with eBay, and is in the process of getting his own auction site set up for machine embroidery designs and associated items.
I fell fowl of PayPal fraud earlier this year, and did get my money back (without any sort of apology though), but they held on to it for far too long (and shouldn't have taken it in the first place - as they knew it was fraudulent before they took it!) so I am all for alternatives.
I have had many problems with paypal. First, they froze my account, asked me to send them all sorts of documentation to prove who I was. I had money sitting in my account for several years I could not use. Finially, they opened my account again, I ordered a computer using paypal, and they messed up the transaction. I did not get the computer I ordered. The computer I ordered was on a great sale. When I found out that it was canceled due to paypal, I found that it would have to pay several hundred dollars more for the computer. I did not get my computer, as I didn't feel I should have to pay the extra money. The price was now 150% of what it was when I first ordered it.
I have never had any problem with PayPal. They have settled several disputes in my favor and returned my money. I do get a lot of emails from scammers pretending to be PayPal. I forward everything I get from PayPal or eBay to their spoof departments. I have had no problems with either one.
WOW, What's an entrepreneur to do?
I have had some issues with PAYPAL but they were worked out between myself & my customer/supplier. I'll look into the referral link. I just want a conduit through which I can get paid without excessive expenses. I've been "verified" since 2004 but haven't always been thrilled with PAYPAL.
I had some problems with paypal a few days ago. I purchased a set and they haven't sent the notice to Sick as yet. I have no worry it will be worked out but it is the first time that has ever happened. I think it was because I bought 2 sets at once and decided I wanted the other one later it confused somebodies system. BUT if there are computer glitches... you all know I will have them HUGZ!
HUGZ! Sharon
