Question 2nd vote on DBS contest

It has been mentioned that some might feel intimidated to enter the contest because it is difficult for them to write instructions for their project, should they win. So I am wanting you to vote on this. Should we allow others to enter with the option to offer instructions only or should we give the choice for writing instructions up to the individual. I personally would want everyone to feel comfortable about entering the contest. So I will make my decision based on the comments I receive here about this.

Just to let you all know I have decided to offer one of my designs to everyone who votes for the contest. This will go into effect starting this month.
      Hugs, Patty

      Hi Patty.
thank you for giving the voters a design too. Very generous of you.
About the tutorial of the projects, I think it is not always possible to do that because you can't write instructions in just a few words when the project is too complicated. Take for instance the Tudor dress made by Zaturn. It is impossible to write instructions for that here on the forum.
And also there are lots of people who are not so good in writing english and using the right words to describe the project.
So I think if people want to write the instructions it is fine but not nessesary.
They do however need to mention the name of the set the designs come from.
I hope you can use my comment.

      thanks again, Saskia

I think we can leave it a choice. If anyone wants to know how a project is done and there's no instructions they can ask. You only have to describe how the embroidery is done, not the whole project (like how to make a Tudor dress). If you don't know how to write in English you can always ask in the non English forum, there are always people who can help.

I agree with the other ladies, it is always nice to hear how a project has been accomplished, but it should be an option that need not be fulfilled if the embroiderer finds it too difficult.
Having said that, I think that everyone would probably be able to get the gist of any instructions written, even if the spelling and grammar are 'appalling' - because we have the picture to go by as well, and are all able to ask questions if there is something we can't follow.
Remember - none of you should feel in the slightest intimidated, because we are one big happy family, and you are not in danger of being criticized by anyone here!

      Patty,
You are so very generous..Thanks so much..I think most of us can write a little description of what we did with what ever design we used..right now I am working on some clothing for some clients that I am embroidering on so maybe I will post those..we will see..God Bless

i don't think a complete instruction is nescesary but you can write with your post wich design(s) you used on what kind of material an what kind of stabalizer to use for that design on that fabric. if there is anybody who wants to know exactly how the project is made you can always pm that person and ask

I agree with the other ladies. Instructions shouldn't have to be a criteria. A person could PM the winner for instructions if necessary.

Re 2nd vote on DBS contest. I agree with the others. If someone needs the extra information they could ask for it. That should take pressure off many.

I also agree with the other ladies. Instructions should not be needed at part of the criteria, just the set the design came from. I would not want to prevent someone from not entering the contest in fear of giving instructions. If more info is wanted the person can always send a PM

Only the set name should be mandatory for the contest. Everyone should feel comfortable when making an entry. Language should not be a barrier.

Since everyone will be using DBS designs, I agree just the set name would be enough. Each participant could choose to write a little blurb about their entry...or not.
Everyone is so helpful and giving, I think if questions are asked about the entry, they will be answered.

The DBS sets should be all that's necessary. If someone wishes to write up some information about how their project was done, that would be fine but it could be left strictly up to their own discretion. If someone wants to know something about the project then they can ask.

If a design from somewhere other than DBS is used, they should mention where the design comes from if they can remember.

Based on the majority that have commented on this matter. It will no longer be mandatory to write instructions in order to enter the contest. You will still have to have at least one DBS design included in your project. I am going to post the changes tonight. Thanks for letting me know your opinion. I want everyone to feel comfortable entering the contest. This new rule will allow more people to feel comfortable entering the contest.
      Hugs, Patty
